make it lower!!

So I have had my tein s-techs on for about 700 miles now and they are not as low as I have seen on other peoples rides. I am using KYB AGX shocks with the same amount of miles on them. My car is lower but not as low as I had hoped. I have the AGX set to 1 all the way around but that didn't do anything. So what do you think? Do I have to wait longer? Or is there something i can do to make it lower besides cutting the springs. Thanks.

here a picture of the height. I'll try and get a closer up one soon.

Adjusting the struts doesn't change the height, it changes the dampening.

What profile is your tire btw? If you wanna fill up the gap you could try a higher profile tire, or just get coilovers and drop it as low as you want.

245/40/17 rear and 205/40/17 up front but i plan on getting new tires soon which would be 245/45/17 all around. but that won't make me lower which is what i'm more concerned about. and i can't afford coilovers or else i would

Coilovers are expensive.

S-techs are about as low as you can go on springs though, unfortunately since the Maxima chassis does not have enough suspension travel from the factory.

that's why i bought the s-techs to go as low as possible w/o buying coilovers. i have a new pic that i will put up now. I more concerned with the front than the back right now.

I have a kyb gr2 and s-techs. Im a maybe a little bit lower than that I think. With this setup and measured the front lip from the ground and I got about 4 1/2 or 5 inches away from the ground. I can fit tightly two fingers between the fender and wheel. Im on stocks so idk if there is a big different. YOur wheels are bigger and smaller wall on the tire. Mine is just the opposite. Small wheel (16) and bigger wall on the tire.

Your wheel gaps aren't correct because of your tire size, especially up front.

245/45/17 is what you should be running.
225/50/17 will fill them up slightly more and give you a smoother ride.

+1. 17's should be a 45 sidewall.

Also, do you happen to be a 5spd? The manual is lighter up front so the drop won't be quite as much. I had S-Techs but I'm an auto and the front had a nice drop.

Also did you trim the bumpstops enough?

What does trimming the bumpstops do? I have an auto with ksport springs and have the same problem front being so high.

your tires are def too skinny leaving a big gap as mentioned already....

another thing, where did you get the springs? do you know if they are authentic Tein's? there is a lot of knock offs running around, specially on ebay. visit tein's website to see comparions.

I have a feeling the OP got jipped on some knockoffs. Seriously, legit s.techs dont leave a gap like that

so tien and s-tech the best type of springs and shocks you can get because they look expensive. I was thinking more like tokico unless people have heard bad remarks about them. trying to get something that can lower my car well enough but is good in price. But you can't go wrong with s-tech... only if they were cheaper

Tien is the brand and s-tech is the spring.S-techs are by far NOT the best springs you can buy. They are way too soft for their drop. If you want to be that low get coilovers but that's my opinion.

Bigger tires will solve your problem period!! Even though I think 18 are perfect for the maxima. The 17 I had on it before looked just like yours and didn't fit well even with the 2.2 drop from my springs.

What would say is a good cheap deal for shocks and struts to lower my car like about 1" on both the front and the back for my 1996 infiniti i30? just trying to find some prices first before i get it since i don't have enough to buy some just yet. i was looking at some tockico ones don't know if they are any good:

did you know that the s techs offer a .5mm sag rate? meaning that pretty much from the moment you install the springs, thats the drop your gonna have.

I definitely have a nice drop in the front with my 18's with my s-techs. My back is a lil high though. The manuals do not drop as low as the autos', but to me it does look like ur tires are a bit skinny. Try using a tire size calculator to find the right size tire. It will probably fill that gap. Im running 225/40/18 on my 18's and I hav no issue with the drop.

^^^ Rightfully so, considering the very little suspension travel if CO's are not the chosen route.

well, my knock offs dropped me two inches and they were from the ghetto of santa ana.... think about it though... it WILL ride horrible with springs... if you dont get new shocks. your old ones will slam on EVERY pothole and especially on the freeway lol. ...but oh it's worth it.. gotta pay the price to look good right!? hehe.

Lowering spring wont drop your car much especially the S-techs. Youre better off getting springs that will drop the car in the 2in - 2.5in area if you want more drop but even then youll want to go even lower. Ill say just leave it as is and save up for a full coilover set up.

s-tech= 2.0 up front 1.8 rear
Ksports= 2.2 up front 2.0 rear
CustomMaxima springs= 2.5 up front 2.2 rear

their are spring that lower your car more than tien. i got ksports because that was the lowest i found. i heard customermaxima.com makes their own springs and it lowers the 4th gens 2.5 up front and 2.2 on the rear. i'm thinking about getting those while considering on coilovers

mine are not high up front. i'm on GR2's up front and i can barely squeeze 2 fingers between the fender and tire. but the my struts are coil out

tokico blues blow out quick from what i heard from my little brother and a couple of other guys. the only thing blues are good for is replacing stock struts with stock springs

if your going to spend that much for struts($620 + the $300 for the s-techs) i would just save a little more for full coil overs...
