Rewiring clearance bulb to light up when turn signal is on like 3rd Gen?

For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about on the 3rd gen's, the clearance lights get brighter when you put your turn signals on. I'm about to try and do this, but I have a few questions that maybe you guys could answer for me to save some time. Will the socket for that bulb, 1157 I think, from a 3rd Gen fit on the 4th Gen socket. Because the socket on the third gen has 3 wire leads, ground, low watt, high watt lead. Where as the 4th Gen only has two, ground and power. So I need to know if I can just put the 3rd gen socket into a 4th gen car. I don't feel like going out to take them apart right now cause it's pouring. Also I was wondering if you guys could think of how I can get constant power to the higher watt side of the bulb when the turn signal is on. Or if there is an actual wire that stays constant when turn signal is on,which I can tap into inside or outside the car, that i can run to a relay then to the actual socket lead. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Another way of rewiring, assuming you have a 3 wire socket, I thought of would be to connect the higher watt lead to a relay that goes to parking lights so they are always bright when your lights are on, then run a wire from the turning signal to a rely then to the lower wattage lead on the bulb. That way my clearance lights should blink when I have my turn signals on. So I was wondering if it is alright that both the 21watt/5watt filaments are on at the same time? I think that's what it is like when you guys solder the two contacts on the socket together that both filaments light up together, cause that way it's sending power to both filaments, but when you guys shave of the **** and put the bulb in backwards, then only the higher watt filament is on, because you're just lighting up the higher watt side instead of the lower watt side. So can those of you who know what I'm talking about tell me if everything I said was right? It'll save me a lot of trial and error stuff. Thanks for any help.

Q: I have a 97+ Maxima and would like to have cornering lights like all the pre-97 Maximas had. Is there any way to install cornering lights in my car?

A: Andi researched this:

Yes and no. In 1997, Nissan removed the whole cornering light _system_ from the Maxima. What exactly did they remove? Well... They removed the lead in the turn-signal switch to send a voltage to the cornering light signal wire; they removed the cornering light signal wire itself; they removed the cornering light relay and relay harness in the relay box; they removed the wiring in the cornering light assembly to light up the cornering light itself.

What he's saying is,

You could, but at tremendous expense and many hours of install

i.e. it's not worth it.
