could this guy (harness) couse p1400? see pic

last time when i replaced knock sensor i noticed that i am able to pull this cable from socket (green). Looks like someone in past tried to solder it but it didn't help, so I've put it back in place, recently i am getting CEL P1400 (EGR valve) and sometimes p0400, could it be because of this harness? if not ,what is that for anyway? ow and it is 98 SE

If the code was never there and it came up after you touched it, then yes, it could be the harness itself. You will need to go to the JunkYard and cut off one and splice it in. That is the EGRC Solenoid Valve and with that code, you will not be able to pass emissions.

Yes thats the EGRC and it will cause a P1400, you can ohm it out to see if its good or bad. Let me search for a post I made last year and I'll get back to you with the info

A lot of scanners will say its a Manufacturer code or some bs like that and it wont tell you what it is

Why does it look like that car has been under water at one time? Maybe it's just me, but you don't normally see rust on things like the intake clamp / TB.

Don't rub it in guys It doesn't take long for a car to distintegrate with all the salt they throw on the roads in winter here. I imagine Connecticut is just as bad.

this frickin' car was under water , but i needed car...and it was Maxima and it was fully loaded , and low millage, and looked good, and seller said the smell is only because car wasn't used over a year!! and i was so tired of buying/searching and so cheap not to check carfax.
But, it is driving good , i replaced lately alternator. I'd Better clean my groundings until another die. what else should i do/check with this "kind of car"?

actually i am not sure about this "under water" history, but body is not rusted , so i am guessing car could be maybe from Florida with little hurricane bath or something?

Umm, I have rust on my clamp and my car has never been under water. I do degrease and wash my engine bay which could also cause rust...not only flooding.

I got the this update on my cell phone and I thought you were talking about MY car, which DOES have a bit of rust in certain parts under the hood and to my defense I got the entire snorkel and air box/duct from JY cuz I broke mine when doing my clutch. The Maxima I pulled it from had no hood and was at the JY for a while so that would explain my reason for having a slightly rusted part, other than that I have a perfectly legitimate reason, I'm in Chicago and I didnt buy my car new

However, that doesnt matter because you were referring to the OP

OP, glad I was able to help. Now if someone would be nice enough to help me and infowire with infowires problem. We are fresh out of ideas! Sorry to "hi jack" but its really annoying me not being able to figure the problem out!

oh and another thing I forgot to say... you're all worried about it having the rust on the clamp while I'm concerned/unpleased that there is a red ball type cap in the engine bay... eww
