I ran into something quite interesting on the forums today: glasspacks and muffler removals. From some googling around, it appears that removing the stock muffler decreases "back pressure", increases power, and slightly reduces fuel consumption.

I am an absolute beginner when it comes to vehicles. I liked to putting things together and experiment when I was younger, and when I ran into the muffler removal articles, it sort of sparked my inner child and gave me an idea.

If removing mufflers decreases back pressure and provides the aforementioned benefits, would adding some sort of suction system (increasing outward airflow) added to the end of the extension pipe (if that is the correct name) amplify the benefits even more?

It is just an idea for now.

causing suction in an exhaust while it would speed the exit of pre-existing exhaust fumes does nothing to help the engine "create" more fumes to be vacated. All it would do is create a vacuum in the exhaust which I can say would result in a negligible increase in mpg, we're talking hundreth's *sp* of a mpg here. And as for increase in performance, the increase would likely be limited to the "wow" factor created by the sound of an unrestricted exhaust, and likely no measurable gain in power. Hope this helps!
