'97 SE CEL Light

'97 SE CEL Light
Good Day All,
I have a '97SE in which I just replaced the starter.
After replacing the starter, the CEL now stays on all of the time.
I read the stickies, and checked the codes, and I got 0304 and 0401.
I believe that these indicate the knock sensor and the air intake sensor?
The car drives perfectly. How critical are these sensors to everyday driving? I attempted to reset the CEL, but no dice. Do I have to replace these sensors for the CEl to go off? Does anyone have a reset procedure that will turn the CEL off? I''m guessing that the air intake sensor is cake to change and only $21 at RockAuto, but what about the knock sensor? It's around $70 at RockAuto and I have no clue where it is.
Any advice is greatly appreciated

when you moved everything out of the way to replace your starter, did you plug the intake sensor back up? or maybe you started the car without it plugged up once? anyways, if it is plugged up now, and its good, the code should go away after it goes through its drive cycles hopefully. but just because the light goes off, doesnt mean the knock sensor code went away because it actually doesnt make the check engine light turn on.
anyways, the intake sensor, i dont think its gonna affect daily driving in any way really. the knock sensor is robbing you of 20+ wheel horse power, maybe more, and its killing your gas mileage. other than that, driveability will probably feel the same. its underneath the lower intake manifold. if youre good, u can change it the "improper" way in 15 minutes or less.

To turn off the CEL light, watch Pmohr's video, link below. If you still have the problem, the CEL light will come back on when you start the car. The knock sensor code does not cause the cel light to turn on. Many times the knock sensor code shows up as a "ghost code" with another code, so fix the air intake code and most likely the knock sensor code will be gone.
