Tending do my misfire and found this!!!

took a few pics of my coil and plug after i pulled them baffled by what i saw....I know this cant be normal




this is the socket after i pulled it out wit the plug....
was worst b4 i took the picture if you look on the table you can see the ring it left...i have a cold so i tried smellin it 2 see wat it was and couldnt tell




Here's the spark plug after i cleaned it off wit a rag...



the coil...

My question is what caused this and is there any chance the others are the same?

Bad spark plug guide tube seals. I had the same problem. $50 for a valve cover gasket kit, changed them out, over a year later and all is good.

Definitely have your work cut out for you. That looks like its coming from the rear valve cover so you will need the valve cover gasket and spark plug tube seals.

x2. you should be all good after you replace that rear valve cover gasket w/ all the components in the gasket kit

Youll also need new coil boots. the hot oil has killed the rubber and your misfire is the boot leaking spark to the tube.

so i found an 00vi today sitting in my Uncle's garage (what are the odds??) and decided y not jus do everything in one shot, save a couple bills, new coils, plugs, injectors and gasket set!!

What luck! It would still be a good idea to get a gasket kit and replace them for the 00vi swap.

Common Problem. I fixed and gave me a reason to install NWP Spacers and a MEVI.

If I had a dollar for everytime a honda F22 did that to me i'd have $4......

Glad you posted this though as I'm going to have to take a look at mine tomorrow although I think I'm ok it sure wouldnt hurt to look, and check the plugs. Damn I need to go back to the salvage yard to pick apart that 97'......
