CAI noticable or nah ??

I know that the CAI intake is noticably louder but on the scale of faster what does everyone think...will it give me alot of noticable difference in acceleration.

Do you need a bypass valve for water or nah ?

If ya ask me...

...my throttle response quickened a bit. I'd say yes, you'll notice it. No bypass valve needed. Just don't go drivin fast through lakes or ponds.

Matty, do a search brah. There have recently been big threads on the CAI issue. All your questions are answered in 'em. But, hell, i'll give u a little overview becuase I like ya.

CAI: Gives low end (off the line) throttle response b/c its a true intake.

POP: Takes away low end (off the line) throttle response becuase it is inconvienently(?) located INSIDE the engine, so it sucks in all that HOTT useless air.

CAI: Gives good mid-range and decent high end power

POP: Gives decent mid-range, and good high end power. (although I felt nothing anywhere except lag from my little charger)

CAI: Is louder, becuase the piping magnifies the suction noise. Expect to be pleased by the sound you wonderfull VQ gives your intake.

POP: Gives a sweet-deep grumble sucking noise, but not as noticable as a CAI.

No, you will not need a bypass valve unless you plan to drive in 7 inches of water.

I, personally, think the pop is a waste of $$$. Save up for a true intake, an intake that gives your engine cool air, the CAI.

Yes the CAI is much better. I think eventually I may upgrade my pop to work as a CAI. But that might not be till a little off. I just hate the idea of the cutting.

No

you'll not notice it, at constant speeds, but gas it and it'll respond.

It is not like an annoying sound or anything just a deeper growl. Sounds like you added alot more than you did but sounds nice.

Re: its only a matter of time

One day in the spring, I'm going to settle this issue once and for all.

Gonna go dyno with pop and immediately switch to CAI.

And then I'm gonna run at the track once with a pop and then again with a CAI.

I'm still deciding whether or not I'm going to use my car or not.

But until then... I have yet to see a Maxima with a CAI, y-pipe and catback run a 14.2, but I've seen a Max with a HAI, y-pipe, and catback run that time.

Whenever you get your results back, let me know, because I am also interested in upgrading to a CAI. Thanks!

Clee, your mind has been warped by Jim wolf, and you have adapted to your laggish ways. Once you experiance the clee-mobile with a cold air intake, you will realize Flava in ya ear is right, and will immediently revolt against your sluggish HAI ways.
