Canadian LSD different from US LSD??

So I called Raxles to get a quote for their driver and passenger side Axles.. I told them I have a 95 5spd with LSD and that was fine till I told them I'm in Canada... The guy told me they dont ship LSD axles to Canada cause Canadian LSD's are different from US LSD's and that their LSD axles wont work.

Is this true? I've never heard of that in my life.

With that said, if this is true, does anyone know what company makes good axles (asides from the stealership) that would work for a Canadian LSD 5spd maxima?

Thanks in advance!

All the half shafts on RockAuto are listed for both American and Canadian vehicles. Courtesy Nissan also doesn't make a distinction. Sounds like either someone at Raxles doesn't know what they're talking about or they meant they just don't ship to Canada. Probably the latter, since the 'shipping' part of their website shows a picture of the US only.

It's prob more like he doesn't know what he's talking about. He says they ship NON-LSD axles to Canada, but for some reason US LSD models are different from Canadian ones...

Guess I'll call again and hope someone else picks up.

Did you talk to Mardi? He was pretty knowledgeable when I was dealing with him for my Civic's swap.

To be honest I didn't get the guy's name, but I'll ask for Mardi next time I call in.

Thanks!

Sure thing Mardi is the owner, he really helped me out when I was doing my swap, he was pretty keen on all the differences between the years, and what needed to be used to for all the different motors into various chassis.

Pretty sure he told me it was Mardi, as in Mardi Gras, but everyone calls him Marty, and it's been years but I seem to remember the letter with my axles having Mardi written at the bottom.

hmm just wondering since shipping to ca will probably be pricey, are you just swaping bad axles or what? i have broke the diff but i never had issue with axles, not sure its really a needed mod.. just hate to see you spend $$ that aint worth it, maybe Nealoc can chime in...

Quaife LSD

Since I am new to maxima.org and do not have enough post to add my own thread I figured I would add to this one because of the relevance to the LSD.

I am not new to my maxima. I have owned it for nearly 11 years and do have a number of performance mods including a cattman SS exhaust system headers back but have not really done serious internal engine mods.

I am looking to build up my once everyday driver into a once in awhile driver. I want to keep the car pretty stock looking but want to build the motor and any other performance mods. I am looking for a Quaife LSD for my 97 gxe and wanted to know if anybody has one they can sell or knows of anybody that might have one. I have talked to Quaife directly and they no longer sell the LSD even though their website lists it. Quaife might be willing to produce it again if they get at least 10 orders. Quaife list the LSD for 585 Pounds which is around $1000. They could probably come down a little in price if they have a group buy of 10 or more.

Any Takers?

Quaifes come up for sale in the classified forums every so often. a few months ago there were one or two available. one of the guys' name was paemt6 or something similar to that. you might check out the classifieds and see if you find any there (you'll likely have to search back quite a few pages).
