I think it is just making that sound because it's sucking air in. My "pop-charger" makes the same sound.

Hmmm..

My CAI makes a strange noise...it gets louder as I accelerate more (esp when car is cold), but it's not the normal sucking noise of air coming up the tube. It's more of a rattling noise that I hear from the center air vents on my dash. It's not a metallic type noise or anything. It's like the filter or tube is rattling aginst something, but it's an on again, off again type of thing. Any ideas? I know, really vague...sorry

The CAI has a more pronounced hissing than the JWT/Stillen Intake because of the CAI's upper intake tube portion, which eliminates the top resonator that the SI/JWT POP doesn't.

As far as the rattling vents noise deal, I don't know, so vaguely, your CAI is making plastic vent-like noises? Hmm, something is definately loose

The hissing at that rpm is normal.
Just double check everything to make sure that all the clamps are tight. Everyone with the CAI has that hissing, so don't worry.

Is your hole too big? Seriously, It might be vibrating against the hole. I used a 3.5 inch hole saw, made the hole too big, caused a noise similar to what you describe, and had to line it with extra padding.

I used a 3.25" hole saw...isn't that what the instructions tell you to do? The tube does move just slightly as it protrudes through it though....maybe that's it. I'll get some thicker rubber lining for the hole to secure the tube better and see if that works.

my hole is a little small and when i step on the gas i here the CAI move. it is rubbing against the little rubber lining, and gives a tick sound when the engine moves. i need to get some rubber lining to fasten the CAI better, but it is too cold to do it now.

Yeah, it's really sporadic sometimes. As my RPM's increase the 'rattle' gets louder...then the transmission shifts, and it stops. I've looked under the hood numerous times but can't find anything that is suspect.
