Solenoid (Trunk Release draining battery?)

Hi,

In conjunction with my other post, I found another parasite battery drain (measured by my multimeter). It's located under the trunk lid, you have to remove the insulated carpet under the lid and there is a connector. If I unplug it, my amps go way down (from .44 to .05), I plug it back and the amps go back up..I'm not sure what is the function of this switch because when it's disconnected I can still pop open the trunk using my key or manual key or trunk release switch in the car.

I once found a post that talks about that little switch, but I can't find it now...

Anyone know what's it used for?

Thanks
