Whos running 2000-2001 front brakes?

I know its not much of an upgrade. I got all the 5.0 gen stuff free, so why not. The rotors are the same diameter from 95-01. Rotor are thicker on the 5.0. Calipers and brackets are a bit beefier on the 5.0. The 4th gen knuckle will need to be drilled out like all the other 5.5 and 6th gen installs. It just so happens I have that drill bit too.

So has any one else tried this? Thoughts?

Well its done. Everything fits perfect and is a direct swap. I used the 5th gen brake lines as well even though they are exact same. The calipers just clear the spokes on the stock 16's. There may be 3mm of clearance. Drilling out the knuckle worried me the most but it ended up being the easiest part of the whole job. Feels good to have working brakes again. My rears were shot so I installed all new stuff there too. FYI the rear set up is identical from 95-01 including the parking brake cables.

Not 100% sure but according to the other thread it is 9/16". That sounds about right to me. I bought it to drill out 3rd gen struts.

I'm running 00 Rotors on the front with 4th gen calipers and caliper brackets. I had to use a washer between the steering knuckle and torque member to get the spacing right, BUT this is probably a result of the fact that I had to remove material from the 4th gen torque members to get the spacing/offset right for the 28mm J30 rotors. If I had unmodified 4th gen torque members I doubt I'd have needed to do anything.

Dont hold me to it as I did not try; I dont see how the thicker rotor would clear a 4th gen caliper and tm. I wouldnt think new pads would fit either.

that's a good point, my torque members are widened inside to accommodate the 28mm rotor, so they are obviously wide enough to fit the 26mm. if I had not widened them previously though then you are probably right about them not fitting. i can test some time with my stock torque members off my other max just to see what happens. sorry for the confusion/incomplete post earlier. all my brake setups start to run together in my head because I've had so many. since 2002 or 2003 i've had:

stock
300zx 26mm calipers and 13" cobra rotors
300zx 30mm calipers and 30mm 300zx rotors
300zx 30mm calipers and 13" cobra rotors
stock calipers with widened 4th gen torque members and 13" cobra rotors
j30 calipers with widened 4th gen torque members with 28mm j30 rotors
j30 calipers with widened 4th gen torque members with 26mm 5th gen rotors

so sometimes i forget what i did to get certain things to fit.

Quite the list of front brakes! I can see why things would get confusing. Ive had countless suspensions so I understand. Ive only had stock brakes with better pads. Since I run stock wheels for winter I never thought too much about any sort of BBK.
