I guess these look decent when they're off, but I can see that huge reflector area with the tiny circle cut out of the middle and I just know what's coming at night. It ain't so cool then. These tails had some promise, but I guess I'm not a fan.
I like the diffused look a lot too, but it does age the car quite a bit.

If you don't like these tails then you shouldn't like projector retros either, or your taste in night lighting is mixed up.

neocry, Just to eliminate any doubt, are the stock bulbs you're using for the brake lights red or white/clear in color?

I don't. They inevitably look like a tacked-on afterthought. The work people do here is very impressive in its quality and attention to detail, but the result of projector retrofits on 4th-gens is literally a round peg in a square hole. It looks wrong; the housings were designed with a wide parabolic reflector in mind, not a small, cylindrical projector.

I don't especially mind that the factory tails date the car because it's an old car and it looks good when it's not trying to look new. It's a better-than-average mid-'90s jellybean that doesn't take well to late-'00s modifications. I'm not saying that mods never look good, but mods like projectors, LEDs, Altezzas, carbon fiber anything, etc. look uncomfortably anachronistic on a car whose design dates back sixteen years.

Well, this has somehow turned into a rant about how I think most of the popular mods on the org are stupid, so I'll step back before I **** someone off.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion as long as they don't try to shove it down someone else's throat. =)

My opinion is along similar lines, though with a few deviations. These clear corners being one of them. I think with while/red only and no orange the car looks a lot nicer and cleaner.

Well, I can get behind selective yellow fogs, I guess. Been thinking about tinting my lenses, but only because I like the look. Actually using fog lights is not a thing I do.

I agree with you - mods that were designed closer to when the car was in production suit it the best.

Do work man!! Anxious to see how yours come out. You could probably retro in the LED rings from your current tails and they'd look amazing.

Much better with red bulbs, just wish the color matched a little better. The leds almost look purple compared to the red in the tails. I still like them though. Props to you for being the first!

I don't think they are LED's, just red 194 bulbs.

The color projected is actually red and it does match the brake lights.

It's the damn cheap camera I have that is making it look pink for some odd reason.

In for pics. I've considered picking up a set of these as well. It seems to shave a decade off the car if you have retrofit headlights.

Im in for pics too. I would love to see a set of these with Kevlo LED boards in them. I was a bit disappointed when I first found this thread that the pictures were all deleted.

honestly I don't think these would look that great with led retro. Led bulb would probably look fine. These lights are designed to reflect light better than the stock and have that more more updated look. If you want the led set up kevlo has I think it would be better to just use the stock tail light.
