Um, the IS isn't really a spiced up Corolla. It's the same size, but not based on the same platform (not even close) as the Corolla. On the other hand, all the other cars listed on this thread are spiced up versions of their more plebian counterparts.

I HAVE AN I30, AND HAVE OWNED A MAXIMA, THE DIFFERENCES ARE IN THE STANDARD OPTIONS, AND THE OBVIOUS APPEARENCE DIFFERENCES. EXAMPLES....I HAVE STANDARD CHROME DOOR HANDLES, SOFT RELEASE WOOD COVERED STORAGE DISH....ETC. I HAVE NOTICED ALMOST ALL MODS BETWEEN THE TWO VEH IS INTERCHANGABLE. THE MAIN PROBLEM I HAVE IS IT IS HARD AS HELL TO GET A BODY KIT FOR MY I30. THE MAXIMA HAS SEVERAL KITS. THE OBVIOUS APPEARANCE DIFFERENCES CALL FOR DIFFERENT SHEET METAL CUTS AND MOLDINGS, MINOR DIFFERENCES, BUT ENOUGH TO REQUIRE A CUSTOM KIT, OR THE EXPENSIVE ONES FROM JAPAN.

actualy (again) the maxima is a branch off the I30 which is almost exactly the same as the Cerfio
our version of the max is only for N. America it is found no where else but the I30/Cerfio is for everywhere else

The I30 just came with basically the same trim line as the GLE, the only differences out side of the obvious(1996-99) body paneling and grill are the sound proofing, limited slip diff, and warranty. If you are looking into buying one I would suggest saving the 5k difference of a new one and getting a Maxima.
BTW- The I series from infiniti has a closing date, they are slated for removal from the infiniti line up in about 3 years. There was also rumor that there would be a 6 speed stick available on the "t" model later this year-false-. There will be no such creature, but there will be a G35 coupe available next october(projected date). Just some word from the franchise owners conference a little while back.
