Excessive Heat From Engine Compartment/Hood?
I don't know if this is normal, but it seems like there's a lot of heat emanating from under my hood. I don't remember it always being like this, but as of late, I can feel the heat from the engine bay when driving/with the windows down. The oil temp sensor is always at the halfway mark when the car is warmed up and the car runs fine. Can anyone give any feedback on this? Am I just being paranoid?

I do have a y-pipe, but it's been installed for years now - no aftermarket headers.

If the car reaches normal temps the both fans should kick on and the temp gauge is what your really watching for h/c and the needle should slightly be up at the middle point heat reading at 205.

Thanks for chiming in guys, I have yet to check and see if both fans are coming on, or just one. I most definitely hear one coming on from time to time, at least... As a general consensus, do most 4th gens' temp needles stay at the halfway mark? Mine has never strayed above about exactly half, but my girlfriend's 5.5 gen always sits below halfway.

My 97 gauge runs at just below half way. Since the sensor that runs the gauge is not the one that the ecu uses, it may not be as precision as the ecu one, allowing the gauge in different cars to be a little different.
