the division pillar between the two sections of my back window has been getting a worn look to it for a few years now.

a week ago i decided to get some matte black trim paint to fix them.

so today, after finally getting a sunny and WINDLESS DAY, i started the jobl taping and papering the surrounding areas so as not to have any black spray on my otherwise white car.

i did my first coat and it went well. i let it sit a few hours and watched some tv. as the sun was going down i decided it was time for a second coat.

so between downtime in ZombieLand, i ran outside to apply a new coat. well right as i was spraying, this gust of wind came outta no where and forced the black paint onto the door of my white ****ING car.

now its not bad, just some specs covering about 4 square inches. i tried to quickly get it off with isopropyl rubbing alcohol but that didnt do the trick.

how do i get this off my body paint without damaging it???

plz. help. thanks.

 

ROCKART you should know these things....

First off, let it dry. Than, Buff it with an orbital buffer and some polishing compound.

That is all.

Or if you wanna go out on a limb... I would try Mr. Clean Magic Erasers. No ****. Been there used that. On this problem exactly. Swear it worked. Only thing... The paint hadnt sat for more than an hour when i noticed it.

 

You could lightly wetsand the area then buff it out, shouldn't be too hard.

I still don't understand why people paint their pillars though when they can just peel that vinyl off and have a body color pillar..

 

just use some wax on it. it will get rid of it..

 

meguiar's ultimate compound would remove it easily. let it dry first.

 

LOL most 4th Gens for some reason have one door that is painted black. I wanted the body colored pillars too but when I got to the last door I was like its not VINYL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So.... with my experience with painting... I decided to just get chrome pillars instead of painting it black again or white.

 

I haven't done it on my "new" 4th gen yet but I did it on my old CG2 Max and had no problems. All the pillars were body color under that old vinyl.

 

open a new can of coke and use that. And no, i'm not kidding. Use a towel soak it with coke. Should take paint and tar off cars

 

you are referring to the b pillar between the doors. im talking about the metal bar that separates the two pieces of your back window. i dunno if thats called c pillar or not, but whatever.

anyway ill try the magic eraser tomorrow. thanks for the advice(s)

 

Why not just use a clay bar?

 

Would remove the overspray in 30 seconds and leave the finish in tack.

wet sand it and buff it, it happend to me a while back while i was smoking my tail lights, just don't use cheap rubbing compound, i did and it took me 2 and a half days just to get it off.
