Crank Pulley Check

Hello fellow 4th genners. Just wanted to let everyone know that I've been seeing alot of stock crank pulleys going bad all of a sudden in 4th gens and some 2000 maxes. In the last 6 months I've sent out maybe 6 replacement crank pulley and my GF's broke last week. Also my boy with a 5th gen crank pulley broke on him while driving down the highway one day last month. So everyone still running their stock crank pulley might want to check thier rubber seals for cracks and anything that looks abnormal. I'll have a pic of my GF's pulley that broke up here later today. Her car only had 176k on it.

It's pretty random for crank pulleys, especially stock ones to go. I wonder if there's a reason to it or if it's just from wear and tear. If it's from wear and tear yours should be gone lol.

I replaced mine this summer for the same exact reason. One day it randomly started chirping/making noise and I was actually able to see it wobbling back and forth, causing the belt to make a little bit of noise.

Around 158K on mine when the rubber seals went, however, they had seen 11 New England winters.

I amon 310K with stock crank pulley. I think this problem is happening if there were oil leaks above the crank pulley (meaning timing cover or PS pump) and it went on the pulley and the hot oil weakened the rubber. I have no wobbling whatsoever and also my only oil leak is from upper oil pan seals.

had 2 fail the same way:
the outer pulley-to-rubber bond failed. inner pulley still bonded to rubber

How many miles were on the pulley before it went?

AJ from what I have seen thus far on this issue is that it is caused by excessive oil on the puller from leaking seals. Did any of yours happen to have oil on it when it separated? I am still on my original at 314K and it is now accumulating oil from the PS pump coming down the belt.
