Quote: hey these red ones are champs. lol i cant count how many times i beat on my se-l and miss shifted to 2nd instead of 4th. but NOOOOOO. this thing takes it like a champ lol. the only thing went wrong with my red one was a starter and fuel filter. (SO PISSED I SOLD IT >=(
There are many occasions I want to set mine on fire (LIKE RIGHT NOW), the motor runs hard... if the ECU lets it, but I am quite impressed w/ how hard of a beating this car takes weekly and the motor doesn't miss a beat (other components don't take the abuse so well), this doesn't mean I do not take care of my motor though. Which is why I also agree w/ Nealoc, there's a real story behind what happened, maybe the OP doesn't know it, but there's a user error hiding somewhere.

im not saying there isnt a user error, im sure there is on the way i drive lol. but i also dont know they guy that drove it when i got it, it already had 194k on it and i dont know how well HE took care of it, i just...accelerated the abuse process i guess lol but yes i am going to be alot more cautious and loving of the new motor when i get it in the motor will be out tomorrow lol then ill really tear it apart and see what real damage was done:/

Your driving as you describe it is not the reason for the failure or at least not the only reason. The engine may well have been abused before you had it or something like that (by abused I mean run really low on oil and run hard, revved too high before the oil had enough temp in it, etc).

VQs can take pretty much any abuse that a person wants to throw at them as long as they've got enough oil in them, the cooling system is working properly, and you don't go past 8000rpm or so.

I was worried about something happining serious, I was reading your other thread that you were talking about your slipping clutch. I was going to advise you to just worry about the clutch and fix it, but you were interested about the dek and the 3.5 swap. I am sure you got carried away and with having no oil too have a little bit of oil and warming up the car and reving it will cost you a engine. I hope you made your decission on weather your gonna go with a 3.5 or a 3.0 dek from a 00-01. good luck.

im going to go with either a younger de or dek, whichever i find first for cheaper. i dont have the money for a 3.5.. but as of an hour ago, the motor is out. on the floor and everything, i will post pics later of the hole's. im going to take the lower rad support out and replace that while im in this area of my car as it needs to be replaced also. ...another question

im thinking of new motor mounts...the rear one is deffinately shot, as i can wiggle the inside freely about an inch up and down, would yall reccomend poly pro upgraded ones or just new stock ones?

im willing to travel for a motor so if you have one lmk! thanks!

Fill the stock mounts yourself. Look into it.

If your going to do the swap your self 3.5 is does not cost more then doing the dek swap since you need a new motor all together. at a time when I did my 3.5 swap like 3 years ago or maybe even longer, the motor cost me $650 shipped to my front door, with 35k miles on and 12 mo warranty which was useless since you have to change the timing on the motor. car-part.com

3.5 swap. I would if my motor went south on me.
BTW sounds like a rod bolt stretched and broke.
