If the Maxima was a 6spd I would take it over the Lightning ANY DAY. My brother got it as a graduation present and he like the truck so much BACK THEN. 1 Year down the road his truck was falling apart (and it was completely stock might I add). The whole underbody of his truck was rusting over (including his muffler), and his interior was falling apart . Yes, he did want a larger and more comforable vehicle, so he bought the Accord. He was HAPPY to sell the Lightning, because he had to take it to the Ford dealership once every 2 weeks with problems. Sure it was fast. But that's all it had. And don't get me started about the Altezzas...oh god those are NASTY! If you want speed for a cheap price you should have bought a Porsche 944 Turbo which runs with the Lightning. They're cheap as hell, but have NOWHERE near the refinement of a Maxima. People on this boards do not buy Maxima for pure speed. And if you want a car for pure speed you do not buy a top-heavy pickup truck. Maybe one day your friend will pull up to an old Porsche 944 Turbo and laugh at it, and then bearly hang with him on the straight-a-ways, and get COMPLETELY TAKEN on a turn. By a vechicle that's 1/3 the cost. The Maxima is a great blend of comfort, luxury, and performance, and I know you know this Craig, and I'm surprised you wouldn't take an '02 6 spd over your Lightning.

We got 12 inches. I just took the max out for some fun, what a blast!!.
I do miss rear wheel drive, but the FWD worked well enough.
Never thought I would need snow chains here.
