I love my 95 max, but she sure is ugly, the 3rd gen was the best looking, the current 5th gen looks like the worst (like a pontac designer had been let loose). What do you all think.
Ugly!!!!!, it's the pinched rear end!!

The 4th gen is definitely the best looking. The 3rd gens may look slightly better from the rear but overall it doesn't compare to the 4th.

For the most part I think my superblack highly modded 4th gen SE is sexy. But, there are times where it looks bland and a little fat. When my friend in his Superblack 2001 SVT lightning shows up....well you can figure that out. Damn-o-Damn I want that truck

you guys are wrong....

my 5th gen is the best looking, both front and BACK! i tell u, its the best, 4th gens dont compare. okay, seriously, i like the 5th gen front and interior, rear was wierd at first, but i think it looks good. and i dont know why i hear people saying that the 5th gen has a "crappier" interior when compared to the 4th gen, i've been in both, they both feel the same as far as quality is concerned, the 5th gen IMHO looks better, the dash and console are great. 4th gen was my first choice, but then my dad got me the 5th gen

if its so ugly, why do you drive it? why would someone come on a maxima forum and ask people if they think their car is ugly... somethin smells fishy, he might be from another board

It's alright to me. LOL, whenever you guys park your Max and get out, do you all ever tend to find yourself walking away from your car looking back at it with a few glances?

LOL, you guys posted really fast. Yea, I tend to be very proud of my car at times especially the work and self-installs I've done with it so I always seem to catch myself looking back at it with the expression "Oh yea!" LOL

You are right.
I look at my Max and think, yum, at the front, ohhhh, at the middle section and doohhh! when I see that short ****, why did they make the rear so sinfully ugly, it looks like the cars where all squeezed out of a tube and at the start of the next car a big slicer chopped off the back.
Now the rear of the I30, that is a rear to look at.
Shame they all came with horromatic, girls blouse, transmission

i've heard so many people (including magazine testers of the day) say that the rear end design on the 4th gen leaves something to be desired. i actually like it.

95-96 nice

I like the 95-96 the best. But with the 97-99 five star rims. I dont like the 97-99's as much becuase the "maxima" on the trunk is too close together...where as the older "maxima" on the trunk was spread out giving it that Acura Legend luxury appeal. But the lights on the 97-99 are much better...except I like the passing lights on the 95-96. I think that the new maxima's look the nicest. Except the badge on the front which they got a little carried away with. Does anyone here think that the new max has too much power for a front driver? I have a friend with a new max and the car really pulls to the right on launches and this is just the automagic. The rear lights look the best on the brand new max too. But the over all best looking max is the 4th gen, 3rd look too old.

When did we start judging cars by their badging? If that's the grunt of what you see when you look at a Max then you got issues. I don't know about other org. members, but Im sure most will agree to me. I am absolutely obsessed with my Max (superblack 98 SE). I could stare at it from every angle for hours with millions of thoughts running through my brain. I think the 4th Gens, especially 97-99 Maxima's are BY FAR the best and most aggressive looking Maximas made. The 5th Gen. are nice, but too passive and round up front and weird in the rear. Im sure Im being biased because I own one, but even if I didnt, I have a strong feeling that I would think the same about them. Just my thought...

ya i get comments on the taillights, often times "how long did it take the shop to install them" or "how much did it cost to put them on" then i tell them i did it myself and they are like "no way!"

Now, I must agree that the 3rd gen is the best looking maxima of all years, but the 4th gen is not far behind... The 3rd gen needs less things done to it to make it look good, while the 4th gen would look 'good' with a set of 17's or 18's, lowered and tinted... however whatever floats your boat...

how can this:

be compared to this?

My 3rd gen in that pic is not even lowered, it's on 16s with 50 series tires, it looks like it sits a lot lower then the 4th gen even on 15s. I had 17s on that max as well and it still looked okay, while the 4th gen would look like a truck. Besides the height, the lines on the 3rd gen are so much better, 4th gen is all bubbly, i won't even get into the built quality lol... don't get me wrong, I like the 4th gen a lot more then my 3rd gen, just can't compare the way they look... yet... or handle.. ever. lol

That's not fair. Compare a '98 SE to a '94 SE. STOCK vs. STOCK. The '98 will look far better.

to each his own

I guess I agree with you though. But if Nissan would put the same rims on the 93 SE, it would look just as good, if not better

For it's time, the 3rd gen is one of the best looking affordable cars.

Ugly! Who you calling ugly

I think overall my 4th gen is the best looking gen. I have a dark green 97 SE. If I park under a tree and with the sun light shining through the leaves and branches, the color has a great "wet look" to it. I could stare at it all day.

But, I would love it more if the 4th gen body style was on the 5th gen chasis.

I'll also say this. Before I bought it 4 months ago, I would walk up to people, in say a parking lot for example, who owned a 4th gen and ask them about their max. Everyone I spoke to said they loved their max.

I love my Max! It's fun to drive too.

I think the 97-99 specifically is the best looking.

The front end of the earlier 4th Gens is wishy-washy, and the trunk looks odd with the bends in it.
