Since you have to remove the motor anyways why not take it out and measure the size?

Nissan only lists one. Other replacements are 12mm so I would go with that.

That one lists 12mm for the replacement and nissan only lists 1 motor.

go big or go home right? lol

thanks kevlo i just ordered the 12mm one. the only store that had one in stock today it cost 180 + tax, so i just overnighted one from rockauto and still came out ahead of autozone, napa, etc., prices.

hopefully installation won't be hard. i couldn't see **** driving back from school today.

bump. i need to know which way to align the wiper motor arm in relationship to the linkage when its parked. i've been messing around with it and i dont have it at the right position because the wipers will stop at the wrong spot on the windshield.

do i have to adjust the linkage or just keep moving the wiper arms around on the splines?

According to the fsm, you move the wiper blades. First you run the wiper motor and then turn it off to make sure it is in the "park" position. Then you put the wiper arms on so that they are parallel to the plastic cowl at the bottom of the windshield. The fsm shows that the tip of the passenger side wiper blade should be 1.57 tp 2.2 inches above the cowl. The drivers side should be 1.46 to 1.85 inches.

Then run the wiper motor and re-check, but remember that the blades will sit high on a dry windshield so the fsm says to wet the glass by using the windshield washers.

i think the motor and linkage arm have to be positioned a certain way before it can run correctly. i just tried what you told me, the thing is, the motor wants to sweep the arms down then up and then it parks in the middle of the windshield.

im lost right now.

i just checked the fsm too and there's no mention of anything needing to be aligned so i guess ill just keep playing around wit it but what a pita

do the arms always stop in the same position? if so, you should be able to take the arms off and re-position them. I have had rebuilt motors where the thing would stop wherever it wanted. I have never replaced a wiper motor on a nissan, so I don't know how the linkage is and how it attaches to the motor. But when wiper blades go down when you turn them on, there is a misalignment between the motor stop position and the linkage. It could be internal because of the stop switch in the motor of how the linkage is attached to the motor.

in case anyone stumbles across this thread, if you ever have to go through this: the arm that is bolted onto the motor must be positioned to the right when the motor is parked in a way that the linkage arms are pushed to the right as well. so you might have to adjust the arm and run the motor and make sure when it is at rest it sits to the right.

i don't know why i got caught up about this but it is in fact really simple, just time consuming to align everything.
