Possible damaged strut?

I recently had my struts replaced, and I have noticed that the lock nut on one of the struts, doesn't appear to be tightening correctly. The nut and the shaft of the strut appear to be spinning together. Is this a bad strut, or is the strut mount defective?

Thanks

Sounds like the strut mount needs to be replaced. There's a notch (for lack of a better vocabulary) in the shaft and in the mount which should hold the shaft from spinning when you tighten the nut. Either that notch has worn away or your strut was not installed properly.

Thanks for the response. I have a feeling that it wasn't installed correctly since the strut mount itself was a brand new, OEM part. Unless the part itself was damaged.

Go bad to the shop that put the struts in and show them what's happening.

Oh, I'm definitely going to do that. Just wanted to get a get a feel as to what it might be before going back. Always good to have information on your side.
