Get an LED board off eBay in white. Just look up 158 LED board for the trunk.

Honestly, an 8-LED 194 bulb is pretty bright. That's what I have in my trunk, and I can see plenty.

There is not a true replacement bulb from anyone except Nissan. It is very similiar to the type 89 lamp, but the Nissan lamp is much brighter. The bulb uses the G6 Single Contact Bayonet (Ba15S) Base also called the minature bayonet base. About the only thing that would be brighter than the Nissan lamp would be LEDs.

But be advised that the map light lamp socket is reverse polarity so if you get a LED lamp, you will have to re-wire the socket.

depending on the socket. common plugs are 194, in this case for example you need to get the male empty base for the socket (female).

sorry i don't see the connector but it doesn't matter for me. flea bay is ~2.50 for 10 194-base that fits directly into the socket. there are no other connector needed.

Look up "smd led". No mod necessary, plug and play and stick wherever you need it. I have 2 light strips in my trunk, each strip has 30 lights. It'd ridiculously bright. And took 5min to install.

if you google shopping for smd led strip, there's a bunch. I got mine for $1 shipped from ebay. I couldn't find any specs on my exact model, but I'd say about 3.5watts each. What makes strips effective is that you can place them anywhere, so there's less shadows.

This was taken during daylight.

And then my friend's trunk at night
