I'm trying to remove the headlamp off my 4th gen Maxima. The two screws behind the lights in the engine bay is a ***** to get to. If anybody can offer some useful advice on what tools to use, I will reward them cash.

 

3/8 drive, 3 inch extension, and a 10mm socket. theres a thick harness in the way a little tiny bit, just push it up a little.

Deep socket 10mm with a 3" extension. Don't forget about the 2 two 10mm bolts once you remove the corner lights.

Oh my god I was just about to pull my hair out until I saw this thread, maybe someone can help me. I believe the previous owner had some radiator work done on my car. The tubing that brings down the radiator fluid from the radiator is COMPLETELY in the way of the two screws on for the assembly.

 

That can be moved to the side. There should be enough slack to allow you to get the socket/ratchet in there.

 

The real problem is not the larger 10mm bolt, but the smaller screw that's just above it. I can't fit a crescent wrench in there let alone a socket.

 

Why in the h3ll would you try and put a crescent wrench in there??????????
A socket will work just fine, use a deep socket.

Deep socket with extension will get the job done. But if youre a real pansy a swivel joint will help, but if you arent mechanically inclined enough to figure out you need an extension, Im sure you dont even know what a swivel joint is

Ughhh...take it to the dealer and pay them $90 an hour. It's obviously impossible.

 

 

Wouldn't the ac line on both side of the radiator be in the way of the deep socket?
I tried but the line is directly behind the larger bolt which makes it harder to get to.

I swapped 97-99 headlights into my 96 couple months back. didn't take more than a few minutes for either of them. i do remember pushing the a/c line out of the way, but don't remember having much trouble. I probably used a small 1/4" drive ratchet and maybe a deep socket, but I don't think so. Maybe you're trying to use something too big to fit...crescent def. won't work.

agree with all of the above i just swapped my 95-96 lights out with 97-99 lights and i dint have a problen used a 3 inch extension and deep 10mm socket

 

1/4 inch drive, swivel on the end of an extension with a 10mm socket.

It's a 10 min. job, really.

 

I dont think the OP would understand how a swivel joint works, since he cant figure out he needs a deep socket and an extension

hey ime a noob and cracked one of my corner lights when i took out the reflector trying to white it out .....will the maxx's corner lense fit my I30?...if not do they sell solid orange jdm style lenses

 

IIRC there is a set of I30 corners in the 4th gen classifieds
