01 AE VLSD in a 97, speedo not working.

Its a brand new trans, just put it in with my 3.5 swap. My speedo, odometer, and trip counter dont work. The vss is pluged in, i dont see any blown fuses. Idk?

same vss as you were using on the 3.0, or is it from the 3.5? what about the ecu?

Did you flip the plug around? It will go in the wrong way and not give a reading....

Its the vss that came installed on the trans when i pulled it outta the box.

Idk about the plug being the wrong way, theres only one way for it to clip in???

Not for mine

, on my first drive w/ my 6spd, I had it plugged in backwards, flipped it around then it worked! (still using the 5spd VSS)

Yup, timing ring wasn't perfect, so I'm having a shop re-do it, but for the week I had it I managed to get 32mpg, chirp 4th and keep going from 5th-4th (awkward for me to go into 6th).

I hooked my scanner up to it last night, and now im getting a vss code 0500 if i remember it right. Wtf! The trans and vss are brand new, it plugs in fine??? I dont get it.

get a multimeter hook it up to the wires on the vss, you should see some activity. Im sure the fsm covers the testing procedure for this.

Would having unhooked all the cruise control stuff under the hood have anything to do with the speedo not working? I just cut the line at the fire wall and tossed the cable and round thing it runs through.
