This isn't Nascar...
Well.. I was at the shop today, playing with my 00VI and doing the general maintnence...
Decided I'd rotate the tires.. They were starting to feather.
Went to take off the Lugs on the front driver side.. With a 900 Ft. Lb Impact...
Won't Budge... WTF?
I than realize I haven't rotated the tires since i had new ones put on..
Mr. Firestone decided that he didn't need to take the 30 seconds to hand screw on the lugs, they decided they were going to try and be Mario Andretti's pit Crew and just ran them up the studs...
Safe to say i'm now driving with 3 Cross Threaded Studs. 2 Of which aren't even run even half way to the rim.

Now.. In most cases I would just drive on down there and throw a **** fit.. But considering they send my Dad Thousands of dollars in work weekly.. We're letting it go..
It's just sad theres literally no way to prevent this...

definitely. because your dad could always tell everyone that comes to his shop that the shop is fully of dumb ***es
Not to mention doing something like that is dangerous and generally irresponsible.
I stopped going to a mechanic that did good work on cars and charged good prices because one of his lackeys didn't tighten all the nuts properly once. Now if they do that kind of job and then refer people to your dad, he could be viewed as someone who does shady work just by association.

Same thing happened with my bro's van, we actually broke the 4 way and a socket trying to take it off. After being pissed since they are my tools we went inside and called my dads mechanic who towed the car the next day and fixed the prob
So sorry to hear that happened to your car, it is a pain in the *** to take off lugs that are stuck like that.
But seriously, how can a store who supposedly has trained staff make such a rookie mistake, when I was getting my certificate, the very first thing they taught was how to take a wheel off and put back on properly. Which meant no air tools, or even a ratchet when first putting on a lug nut, you have to put it on by hand to make sure the threads are not criss-crossed and then you proceed with hand tools.
I guess when a bunch of idiots work together it doesn't matter how much training you get.... but when I got my wheels from Discount Tire I was really afraid of this happening to me so I stood outside and watched them put my wheels on one by one, lug by lug. And the guy doing it saw me watching and knew I was the owner so he took his time and carefully put on each lug by hand and tightened it with a torque wrench, no air tools even though there was a impact sitting there right next to him. But I wasn't giving him the eye of death or anything to make the dude uncomfortable I said "hi, hows it going" and thanked him for being careful with the lugs and the wheels.
So I think next time, make sure you have an eye on your car and the person working on it, and make sure you let them know you're watching they might be considerate enough to be extra careful.

This is not true at all. It's very simple to prevent this - just rotate your own tires.
I've been doing the tire rotations on every car I've owned since 1968, and never had a crossed lug.
Of course, I guess it could happen any time you get new tires put on your car, or have any other work done that requires a shop to remove the wheels.
