Tilting plenum to get knock out?

So on the Z,better design yes, but I am wondering if you could simply unbolt the upper plenum, tilt back/move enough to reach through the the KS?

Haven't fully looked at it, but seems logical, without removing too many hoses/accessories.....thoughts?

Go for it. Or just do it the way we all do it.

Ive done it, But keep in mind there are tons of bolts to undo on the rear VC.

uhmmm, ratchet, extension + extension + swivel + lil kid FTW!!!

Really i just used the ratchet and extension to loosen the ks and then i pulled it out in one piece still attached to the harness.. For replacement i swapped the harness with the new ks on it and a lil kid started threading the ks for me and i finished it off with a ratchet/extensions/swivel...

wait, i dont get it. or maybe im confused as to what youre saying.

unbolting the upper manifold and tilting it all you want isnt gonna give you any more room whatsoever. the KS is underneath the lower....

Yeah, I'm on it....weather is turning around now, its f'n-10 last couple days, but snow is a good sign, it means its warm enough to snow, heat waves of 30's are coming back so will do this weekend, not too worried about it...my first outing last time was a quick ditch effort w/o proper extension.....1/4 wobble snapped like a bish

Don't forget the torque specs, since that's sort of the principle in which these things work. With that said, removing the entire unit is probably best practice.

Talking about knock sensors - I noticed while replacing valve cover gaskets on my 97 GLE that my knock is located on the end bolt of the lower intake manifold? I went fishing thru my auto repair receipts and found that a local import mechanic did replace this years ago. I guess it worked, no codes.
