i have a 97 5 speed maxima im trying to figure out why im having power lacking problems. im throwing a map sensor code and have fluctuating idle issues with my q45 tb and when i floor it too face it runs rich at around 10.5 to 11 for a good 5 seconds or so then go to 13 then normal. my question is it mandetory to have the map sensor hooked up when u have a swapped in 3.5 or can it be eliminated with no performance problems

What else have you done to try to rectify the problem?

IIRC the MAP shouldn't really do anything, or at least it doesn't for the original motor. My VQ30 ran for months with the MAP unplugged, and I never noticed it until I failed emissions.

IIRC The map sensor doesnt affect drivability. Since we run MAF. I belive i deleted mine when i swapped.

How do you have your knock sensor setup?

I had slugish performance as well when i did my swap.

But i threw in a 470k resistor in the KS harness and felt the power of the

3.5.........Hint Hint and if anything you scratch off the KS as a issue if you throw in a resistor.

Also what types of codes is it throwing

Sounds like a normal factory ecu setting, it runs overly rich in wot. Has it been tuned? Also I'm still 3.0 but my map switch has been dangling in my engine bay unattached for years but it is connected at the harness.

Your current KS is probley OK. Its the thinner walls of the 3.5 that probley throw it off.

Check your Ground, unless you have the updated one that uses the block as ground.. Codes dont mean **** with KS's. You better be running 1. the proper Ohm resistor and 2. 91-93 Octane or your gonna regret it.

Do the 3.5's run a different KS than the 3.0's?

And i belive the 3.0 ECU doesnt like the 3.5 KS either

Out of curiosity what resistor are you using?
