oil pressure switch question

oil pressure switch question
So, looking at the pressure switch, it is loose, and the rubber guard/boot is torn.
Nonetheless, it obviously needs to be replaced, I am hoping this is the total oil leak issue. There is some splatter up higher, and some run-off around undercarriage, but none of the VC;s seem to have any seepage. Already did lower oil pan gasket....
Any thoughts on if anything else needs to be replaced, i.e. the boot?

I thought that my oil pressure switch was leaking and then I found that oil was dripping down on it from above - vc gasket. It took me quite a while to see that it wasn't the switch. I ripped the boot in the process, but I have never changed the switch. It's been over a year.

What is the main cause of these oil pressure switches to leak? Is it being loose like he stated? Is the oil seeping through the threads?
I know they only cost $10 at autozone but if looseness or thread leaking is the main cause then I might as well stick with the OEM switch. When changing oil this weekend I'll just throw on some sealant after cleaning it.

Hmmmm, if its threaded then it shdnt lead. The ECTS is threaded and i cant remember if there is a washer used, but that doesnt leak at all.
OP,
I wd say clean the area and MAKE SURE u not leaking from somewhere else.

After reading some other online clubs I found that the inside diaphragm fails over time. It doesn't use a gasket nor washer.
I just baught a new OEM oil pressure switch for $9.75 with free shipping on ebay. When I install it I'll just use thread sealant. The PN for this switch is 25240-8996E.
Did any of you guys have to use the special socket designed for this switch or was an extended socket good enough?

SO, cut off old sensor plastic pieces, no need for deep socket that was MIA, used 26 mm to get oem part off, and then used deep 22mm to get new switch on....used plumbers tape to lock thread seals....small easy fix that in conjunction w doing VC's and Intake gaskets should be end of oil seepage problem...in theory
