I used to run 8awg for the amp ground. when i upgrade to 4awg, i noticed no more dimming issues.

OT with the optima battery, I have had my Red Top for over 2 years, not a single problem. I am running 2 subs in my trunk. Itpp listen to the radio with the car off, never had an issue. I guess it's to each their own. I've seen yellow tops go 10 years, maybe it's just luck of the draw? I would recommend it for anybody.

Also, abusing the battery expecting it to never die can also ruin it. Take car of your battery as you would your car in general.

That's weird... sounds like when you upped the size of the wire it lowered the overall resistance and let you system pull more power, thus a bigger draw on your electrical system.
