ECU Reset ?

I was getting a right bank and post cat combined code and replaced the front 02 which made that front code go away. The 0707 still comes up, after 2 manual (screwdriver) resets as I do not have access to the electronic device. Is there a way to ignore the cat o2 code without getting the engine light back on with just a screwdriver ecu method? ( also, I am assuming the cat 02 does not affect mpg?)

Nope, fix the problem or live with the light. Or pull the light.

Also, 0707 means nothing to me, but I know many many P codes by heart, post it up & I may be able to give you a trick to avoid it.

0707 is the main cat under the car using the old fashioned OG way (screwdriver method, 7 long, 7 short).

And I agree, fix it or live with it.

What do you mean by 'electronic device'? The ECU? Without access to the ECU, how are you resetting the codes with a screwdriver?

0707 == P0136, a code for the rear O2 sensor.

Why are you trying to ignore the problem instead of fixing it? As KRRZ said, fix the problem, pull the CEL bulb, or just live with it throwing a code.

You're right, it has been quite a while. Used to be rather common, before I figured it was best for me to lurk more than post.

Sounds like you need a new project car...A32/VQ25HR, now that they're finally in the states.

The ECU can be accessed with the engine off ignition on, flat head screw on panel just right of gas pedal. Turn screw all the way clockwise, all the way counter and the cel will give you a slow and fast flash. 7 slow and 7 fast means 0707 which by the code manual is rear or post cat 4 wire 02. To clear the codes and reset the ECU, you clockwise stop hold, counter hold, clockwise hold and counter. The ecu can throw multiple codes like 5 long 3 short and then 7 and 7 is a right bank and post cat 02. Often the front o2 will throw a false cat code which just goes away with a reset. Old school but works fine.

OK. I admit it. I am an idiot. I simply cannot see any flat-head screw to the right of my gas pedal. I see a panel, which when I pop it off, shows a small box underneath with the words 'engine idle adjust'.

Am I just blind?

This is a '99 SE 5spd, but I cannot see how that would make any difference.

there might be a cover panel but basically the ecu is a metal box about 5" width x 1" depth on the the wall just right of the gas pedal. If you have never adjusted it b4, there may be a warning tape over the adjustment screw which you can replace or forget about. Here is a youtube video where the guy actually pulled the ecu right out, which I don't recommend, but it shows you where it is located and where the screw is.

Rhonster -

Thanks! Then it is what I think it is. The problem is that right above the screw it says something odd like "engine idle speed", but when I looked at the YT video again, it looks like the same text is above his screw as well. Like he says in the vid, I've got a Phillips, not a flathead.

I will give that a try!
