has anybody made sequential turn signals for their max?

hey orgers. i want to make sequential turn signals for my taillights. what are sequential turn signals you ask? http://www.webelectricproducts.com/ they look like these. i'd like to design them like newer ambulances and fire trucks have them...to where it blinks in the shape of a directional arrow. i'd like to make them, not purchase them. does anybody have a write up on how to do this? im assuming led's, an led board, relays, a flasher and resistors are needed...

Im thinkin that u will need to alter the headlight housing to accomplish this since there is only one bulb in the housing for turn signals.

Its a nice idea but gonna require some work

This is where I was going to say to look. 67 and 68 Cougars had a box in the the trunk that controlled them. I think 64 and 65 T-Birds had them too. There is a newer Mustang ( 06, 07?) that had them also. If you did some searching for first responders equipment you should be able to find the control unit you will need or hunt the old ford parts bin.

Big difference between the American cars and Japanese is that the imports have a dedicated light for turn signals and American cars share the same light for turn signals and brake lights.

Depends on how much fabrication you want to do, how much of the work you can / are willing to do, and how you want the lights to function.

The easiest way, IMO:
Pick up some LEDs and a controller.
Drill and seal 2 LEDs on either side of your stock blinker bulb.
Half or quarter the stock timing.
Program your controller to flash the LEDs in series and at the end have the stock/all bulbs flash.
The circuit would be constant power till the end sequence which would be tied back to the relay for reset signal.

OR Buy a custom system with relay forward and retrofit.

OR Customize everything from the relay forward exactly how you want it.
