Email notification has gone out to everyone in the backorder file, so if you haven't received it, I've either got the wrong email address or my msg went into your junk mail folder. Anyone who hasn't received our heads-up email about the deposits should check in with me by pm, email (bcatts@cattman.com) or phone (520.575.6195, open 9-5 MST, M-F).

Since I don't know most of you by your screen names, so I can't connect your post to an order.

I have joined this group deal. Spoke with Brian Catts and he assured me that my 1998 I30t Cali spec car will work with his headers and/or Y pipe.

For those of you with 99 California Maxima/I30s, you should really give Brian Catts a call. I was under the impression from this thread that those guys were sol, but Brian told me otherwise.

The number again is 800-759-9920.

By the way, many thanks to KT3MaxSE, mista0406, and of course Brian Catts for getting this deal together. The 4th gen is a 15 year old car now so aftermarket is understandably getting smaller.

One more thing: Brian told me today that for this deal, TODAY IS THE LAST DAY!

If you're thinking about it, put on your Nikes and just do it

This Y pipe is for any '95-'98 and only for '99-'00 FED spec

To clarify...as this seems to get muddled up all the time...
1. This production of Y pipes fit all '95-'98 Max/I30 & '99-'00 FED spec ONLY; if you are a '99-'00 Cali spec car this Y pipe will NOT fit.

2. Yes your car ('98) works with just this Y pipe alone since it doesn't matter what emissions spec you are for '95-'98, all the y pipes are the same. Emissions spec only matters on '99-'00--this Cattman y pipe fits the '99-'00 FED spec cars too because they have the same y pipe as all '95-'98 do.

3. Since the '99-'00 Cali spec has a different y pipe than the '95-'98 & the '99-'00 FED spec Max/I30s do and the fact that Cattman is not making any direct-fit y pipes for the '99-'00 Cali spec at this time--Cattman headers are your only option (for '99-'00 Cali) if you want Cattman right now, anyways.

4. Cattman's headers system (2 manifolds & a unique y pipe strictly made to fit his manifolds) uses a completely different y pipe that is not interchangeable with this standalone direct-fit Y pipe. He makes headers for all '95-'03, but since this is not a headers thread that's all on that.

Hope this provides some clarity for everyone

What you need is an '02/'03 Y pipe, not this one. Cattman finished a batch of '02/'03 Y pipes about a month ago...he might have 1 left, I have no idea...FYI, Brian is out of the country for the next few weeks so don't expect a response until near the end of the month.

You really need to take a look at the 5.5 Gen Y pipe group buy thread that "Spock" created specifically for the '02/'03 Cattman Y pipes.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm actually in for the headers even though I do understand that the Y pipe is more cost effective performancewise for the 4th gen.

Everyone who has ordered this Y pipe should have received Brian's email yesterday regarding the details as to when final payment and production completion will be--as early as the week of 10.10.2011! If you haven't already you should seriously consider calling Cattman ASAP (as the all-metal substrate cat internals & flanges are being allocated as we speak to coincide w/ this production run) and get one of his Fastcats at 10% off! Shipping for the cat will be free since it will ship with your Y pipe and comes with 2 OEM gaskets and nuts/bolts which will make installation much easier.

I plan to take my Y pipe and original cat off together and save myself the hassle of separating the two since rusted to ****! I'll probably have a hard enough time with the 2 y pipe flanges alone, haha.

Off topic but still Cattman...I'm planning on getting a JWT popcharger w/ upgraded R2C filter so if anyone is debating this as well give Cattman a call since it will be more beneficial to all if we can have multiple orders instead of having to make a special order.

Even if you're not in this order, Cattman may have a couple extra Y pipes as well as header sets (although this is not a headers thread) available but your best bet is to give him a call and give him your info so you're first in line, should some become available (or get the next production started!)

Production is complete! (ok, maybe 1 more day if that) Once Cattman receives them overnight he'll be able to break it all down and get things shipped out by the end of the week!!

Received a partial shipment that went out Monday - if you got an email from UPS, its on the way. Received the rest of the y-pipes from this batch today, and those will ship tomorrow.

Ok i'm confused, I remember having a conversation with Brian regarding his pipes and he said they will NOT work with cali-spec cars. SOmeone here is saying he said yes now.

I'm highly confused, I have a cali-spec SE-L and i would LOVE to get my hands on a y-pipe if it will work on my car...

There is a y-pipe design for every Maxima made between 1995-2008. I think the issue is - and I'll confess to being confused about your confusion - that there are 6 different non-interchangeable designs that cover that period of time. I don't mean to get hung up on our parts numbering system, but let's use that to identify the different y-pipes:

YG4 - fits ALL 95-98 Maximas, and Fed-spec 99 and 00 Maximas
YG5CA - fits Cali-spec (CANLEV-spec) 99 and 00 Maximas, and ALL 2001 Maximas
YG5A - fits ALL 02/03 Maximas [I have a couple of these in stock, BTW]
YG6/AT - fits 04-06 Maximas ONLY with 5AT trannies (and 05/06 V6 Altimas with 5AT trannies)
YG6/MT - fits 04 Maximas with 4AT trannies, 04-06 Maximas with 6MT trannies, and 07/08 Maximas with CVTs (but its not meant for the 07/08 because it has an EGR port on the back manifold, and they don't they don't have EGR systems, so it has to be plugged - Nissan makes a part for this). Also fits all 02-06 Altima V6's with either 5MT or 6MT trannies
YG6/CVT - ONLY for 07/08 Maximas (which all have CVT trannies and never have EGR systems)

We just made a batch of YG4 y-pipes, and if your car is a 99 Cali-spec, it will not fit. If its Federal spec, it will (but they're all sold). For some reason - primarily because most customers seem to prefer the much more expensive header/y-pipe combination - we get very little demand for the YG5CA (see above), so they are very seldom made. That's unfortunate, because its a very effective performance part for the money, but that's the way it is.

Hope this helps. And don't feel like the Lone Ranger, it is confusing.

Brian

Got mine 20 minutes ago. Packaged up pretty well along with the cat. I love the instruction sheet that he includes. Much more entertaining to read than the dry, half complete stuff you usually get with parts.

Can't wait to get these on and fire her up!

Took my sweet time, but she's on. Car feels great! Only problem now is these new pipes really make the rest of my car show its age.

BIG thanks to Brian! The fit couldn't be better. Front to back, everything lined up perfectly.
