Angle out exhaust

Might sound like a noob for asking this but I couldn't find a straight answer anywhere so I'll ask here. Do angle out exhausts (like the ones you may commonly see on WRX's and Supra's) need to be bought like that or is there a way to mod yours to make it look like that without losing horsepower? Just wondering.

Heck no you dont have to buy it like that, i kinda find it stupid when it looks like that. its just a poor job of piping but theres no HP lose in that. Now if you want your to look like that just make it look like its suppose to be like that

Just reverse into a high curb at about 10 mph. Will give you a nice natural angle.

But to answer your question, no they arent sold like that by any of the maxima exhaust manufacturers. Just the subi guys have them availible like that.

People have done it before. So its nothing new. Just buy the exhaust from an Evo or WRX and have it welded on there.

Supras, 240sx, and 300zx's also have them like that regularly, as well as Evos. Ive always wondered what it would look like on a 4th gen, but I like how my 4 inch tip is perfectly aligned with the exhaust cutout.

It has nothing to do with laziness sir. Please stop making statements when you do not know what you are talking about.

Tuners utilize this to reduce piping, reduce bends, and there is some 'look' factor. Argue all you want about the legitimacy of the above, its pro,s or cons... Before you do, check out how many world renown tuners have 'them' and how performance oriented the car is.

You can do it on any car OP. It is just a matter of piping. If you want an already built system, GL, I doubt you will find one for the max (as previously stated). The only other thing you should know is on a Maxima, it would = rice.

I'm going to look into getting a HKS carbon ti muffler welded on my 4th gen once my full kit is on. Otherwise, it'll look out of place to me.

That's the only part of your statement that should've been posted.

Would that even clear our gas tanks? To have it angled like the OP wants? I was just thinking about that.

If you were to do it, you would have to angle it downwards, atleast you can say it's for performance and not for looks.

Unless you build a custom catback that goes UNDER your rear axle....

There was a guy who had a custom exhaust. He had is on the side underneath the rear passenger door. It looked though. It was a 4thgen. He was on NYCM though, not sure if he's on here.

I thought there was a guy on here that did do that. He has a gold 4th gen thats boosted and has a carbon fiber trunk. It was a 3 inch straight pipe exhaust if I remember right, it led to an HKS carbon Ti muffler

My homie had an apexi n1 3" angled up. It looked good. Just kinda hard to do on a A32 because of the suspension.

I believe you're referring to Keem. Exhaust piping came under the rear beam.

Y'all do realize the only reason that the angled exhaust came into existence is from people running straight-through exhaust piping from the headers back, right?

As in, they'd literally take a straight piece of exhaust, weld it off of the exhaust manifolds, and fabricate custom hangers so that they had the least amount of distance and bends the exhaust had to travel through. They didn't care where or how the muffler came out, so long as the exhaust piping was straight. Hence the funky angled exhausts.

The rice-tastic angled exhausts you see on the Subarus, and so on, are just attempts to look "JDM." Having an angled exhaust tip on factory-spec exhaust systems is really useless if you're looking for performance gains.

My friends got a bug eyed WRX and a 3inch straight pipe turbo-back to an HKS muffler, the thing is angled like a ****. I guarantee its not for looks... Subauru's dont come like that from the factory, they never have. They come with the straight angled exhausts.

That goes for other cars too, like 300zx's and 240sx's, supras, evos... whatever. If someones just angleing the tip, then yes, its rice. If its part of the whole exhaust thats been done, its done correctly

On certain cars, angled exhaust = WIN.

For example, the Supra. I'm glad Toyota did it this way to eliminate/reduce the amount of bends and angles in the piping. What you see in the following picture is the 4" HKS Ti exhaust.

For those of you who don't know, I DO have an exhaust like you are recommending, I just really like the angle out look and was wondering if it would even be possible, or worth it to try for that matter. Take a look.

Yea, Keem has his under the beam. Otherwise the rear beam would not clear the exhaust especially if your car is lowered...

Btw wizard that thing is ****
