Which air filter should I use and when should I replace them? What it I get a new intake system? Do I still have to change air filters?

Air Filters

Stock Nissan, replace every 30K miles
K&N Panel filter, re-oil every 50K Miles

Aftermarket air filter kits like the K&N on a CAI or POP Charger should be re-oiled as well. The interval?? I would guess at 40K miles because they suck in alot more air and get dirtier quicker than the panel filter.

re-oil...

I haven't had mine long enough to need it yet, but I think this is how it works:
1. Buy K&N oil kit
2. remove filter
3. wash filter by rinsing it w/ water only
4. let filter dry
5. spray with filter oil
6. reinstall filter

If anyone know for sure, let us know!!

It's just like you said, but there's a cleaner included with the cleaning kit. And I usually do mine every 15k. It's not hard to do, so why not.

Re: Air Filters

50k miles for K&N? You must live in a place with some really clean air. Or I live in a place with some really dirty air. I do mine about every 7-10k.

umm here's what happened to me....

umm got a K&N with stillen adapter....

when i drive like a grandma...and the filter makes NO sound whatsoever...then i get better gas mileage...dont ask me how...it just happens...but when i drive to make me smile....it costs some money to make that sound that makes you smile...average about 21 mpg with mixed driving...and punch it hard usually on the weekends =) enjoy the ride

Re: Re: Air Filters

I was quoting the manufacturer's recommendations. I usually re-oil mine wheneevr I sense some loss in oomph or something, or when I have a lazy weekend to give some love to my car;-)
