95 ecu

Ive got a 98 that used to be an auto. Swapped it to a 5spd with a 95 ecu. My main question is since im running on a 95 ecu, I dont have an egr anymore? If I dont then can I plug up the egr port and the hole on the headers? One of the resons is the egr tubes got a nasty leak, car sounds like a deisel at about 15% throttle between 2 and 3k. Also just need to know for myself. Thanks.

95s have EGRs...

whether or not the ECU pins are the same for the EGR control on 95 ECU and 98 ECU might be another issue, but 95 ECUs definitely have EGR control. download the FSM and check the pinouts.

A '95 Fed spec ECU will generally not throw EGR codes, not sure about the Cali spec. You can get the OE exhaust manifold plug from any Nissan dealer - http://www.courtesyparts.com/14003k-...3-p-53839.html

As for the port on the intake manifold, a 3000GT EGR block off plate fits perfectly, if you can find one sold by itself - http://www.3sx.com/store/comersus_vi...idProduct=1074

But as said, the '95s did have an EGR system, the ECU just doesn't throw any codes for it (Fed spec, and if you keep the EGR temp sensor plugged in and dangling).

So I can plug up the egr on both sides with no bad effects?

I believe one of the systems runs off vacuum if I'm not mistaken with 95

Essentially, yes. Your emissions output will suffer, and you'll lose some of the advantages of the EGR system, but it does clean up the engine bay a bit and makes it much quicker to pull the UIM.

Yes, they all do (except for the '99).

Combustion temps will rise in some instances (cruising part throttle), and pre-ignition (knock) could occur.
