y pipe replacement

...and yes, I did use the search, but with no usable results.

The Budget y pipe that I put in my car has a hole in the flex section now and needs to be replaced.

The car is getting on in years with 180K now, and am just looking for a good replacement. I do have the OEM pipe, but is kinda rusty as it has sat in my shed, but is good.

What are some suggestions to replace the y pipe without spending alot of money. The car is not modded and is a well-maintained daily driver. Performance doesnt matter.

Please advise and thanks in advance.

You can buy a brand new SS flex section online then just have it welded in. No need to replace the entire y-pipe.

This!

No need to spend $200 or more on a new pipe. Just get the flex. If you can't weld it in yourself, I'm sure a shop won't charge you more then $35 to weld it in.

Sounds like a great idea to me... Thank you fellas for the advice. I'll call and ask a shop tomorrow about doing that that specializes in exhaust tomorrow.

Cheers!

What size diameter would be correct If I had a budget Y pipe?

6" or 8" length? also will the shop have to remove the y pipe from the car to install a new flex section?

My guess would be 8" but don't quote me on that. They shouldn't have to remove the y-pipe.

chris dude 2.5" looks to be the right diameter but the length I just measured was close to 10" between welds where that flex section was in. FYI, can someone confirm the budget flex length is 10" 2.5" in diameter?

Thanks,
Jason
