A/C condenser difference

I have an 98 i30, i need a new condenser and from different sites i noticed that there may be different sizes or fitting sizes for this year compared to different years. Is this true? Can i put a condenser from a 1996 maxima on it?

I dont know about the I30, but on the 96, there is a difference depending on the build date. Seems like is was before and after January 96.

Yes u will need a specific condenser for your car's production date.

www.courtesyparts.com

Hit up the website and Do some research then get back to us. U will need to look on the inside of driver door for your production date.

EDIT:

Trust me man, dont jus go buying any condenser or u will end up replacing hoses as well cuz they dont fit the ones on new condenser. If u want new gaskets, get them from the website. Autozone gaskets are crap. U dont need new gaskets if the old ones are still good.

When u replace the condensor u will have to replace the drier/accumlator. Autozone has these for cheap or ebay. AGAIN, make sure u get the correct production date.

I spent weeks fixing my ac all beacuse of the different production dates and tryin to get proper parts.

Oh man, I remember when I replaced mine. There were 4 versions available. There were 4-vane vs 6-vane, and some other variations. I ended up looking up the part using my VIN number.
I think I ended up going with a reman with lifetime warranty.

cool thanks man i actually picked one up from the junk yard that looked like it was in pristine condition for $20 bucks if it doesn't work then i guess i should have taken everyones advise and bought a new one. For future reference this is what i found out
manufacture date

02/1994-06/1996- one style

06/1996-03/1998- style 2-
"i have a 98 infiniti i30 which was manufactured in 08/07 so this is condenser"

03/1998+ style 3

Differences- i believe that some of the connections are either bigger or smaller depending on the year. here's an idea:

So If anyone has a 1998 maxima or infiniti and you need a condenser you have to have a 1998 model i got a used one from a 1996 maxima and it was too short and the fitting did not work so for future reference if you need a condenser for a 98 model then get one made for a 1998.

Don't most people always ask for auto parts specific to the year vehicle they drive? I thought that was called common sense...

Thanks, D. Looks like the OP got it figured out.

I had a hard time finding the right one. Part of it had to do with manufacturer defects when they were reman'd. I was finally able to find the right one, changed it during the summer and I've been having ice cold air ever since.

BTW, if you change out the expansion valve under the dash, stay away from the Murray brand. The threaded nut doesnt fit. Instead go for a OEM or a Four Seasons brand.

Some parts needed to be date specifi such as a/c parts, other parts such as a hood or fender dont, nothing to do with common sense

Don't they call it interchange, or exchange, when it goes across model years? Anyways, the 4th gen compressors were complicated. There were so many variations through the years. I ended up using my VIN to verify I got the right one. Having a parts catalog for cross referencing helps.
