I swapped the pilot bearing from auto to manual, it makes the clutch install easier but it is not needed.

the pilot bearing only serves a purpose in our cars to center the clutch alignment tool (as I found when doing the swap on my car).

with what ever clutch kit you got, you may find the clutch alignment tool fits the pilot bearing already in place.

The pilot bearing i not needed on our cars. The hard thing will be lining up the clutch when you have to bolt it onto the flywheel, the reason is that the clutch disk centering tool is made to go into the pilot bearing (if the pilot bearing isnt installed then the clutch tool doesnt really work because it has way to much play). The fix for this I found is, I taped the tip of the tool with electrical tape so it matches the pilot bearing hole) . I wasn't about to install the bearing if its not needed (although I bought one) This way the tool fits perfectly into the hole now and you can center the clutch.
