use the coathanger and go in from the top of the door and hit the switch, or call a lock out service

call triple AAA, why do you need a lock smith? and if you happen to have your registration on you or the title. Go to nissan and get a key made. They have your key code to make a key for you without needing the actual key

Dude, last month when I bought the new car I locked the keys in it within the first 5 minutes of ownership. (Aftermarket Viper alarm auto-locks even with the keys in the ignition) Nels was with me and we used a coat hanger to open it in about 2 minutes.

when I did this, the smith put wedges in the door at the top jamb side, then hit the switch. Took him about 30 seconds...

If the keys are in the car what makes you think the hood is open?

Seriously though, ive unlocked probably 2,000 cars in my day, and ive still got my tools for it.

I'm pretty sure cops aren't allowed to assist in any way with a car, i've run into situations many times where police said they were not allowed and would not help, if he did it, he shouldnt have because if he breaks something we can hold him liable. so i guess you just got lucky once lol

OP: Were you able to unlock the car yet?

WRONG, i've had the police unlock many a car over the years. nowadays they just make you sign a waiver in case of scratches. the tool they use is pretty fail-safe and did'nt scratch my car at all.
