found this alarm system a few days, kinda left me speachless at all the features. it isnt completly new, but sure looks like something we can use for our cars.

http://youtu.be/wsCSgwipfvg
two pretty good vids on how it works, then of course the website.
http://www.auto-innovatio.com/magent...ech-st800.html
i also found them on ebay and amazon.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ST800...item2eb742bae5
http://www.amazon.com/Dowontech-ST80...5017386&sr=8-1
seems to be cheaper on ebay. but looks legit on the others.
anyone have any input on these pushbutton alarms on our cars.
really considering getting one for the max.

read the review, watched the videos, read a little on their site... Im sold! seems better than the $1000+ quote i got for a Clifford alarm with smart start installed...
and our cars arent as complex as the G35 guys or that TL guy so should be easier to install and configure. I love the keypad in the window thing! Dont know how many times ive walked outside to get something outa my car and forgot my key!
ST800 FTW
someone buy it and install it! preferably a 99!!!

Yea I am sold as well. I will likely buy one next month and install it on the QX4, o and that ebay link; check the shipping.

Im curious... as to if some of these features will work, like the automatic lock/unlock, escort system. Seems like a very viable option, these features are found on a lot of newer cars and they would definitely bring an up to date feel to the 4th gen.

i believe it was 4-10 for the code... but also, you can disable it all together...
what year is your qx4? does it have the chipped key? thats my biggest concern. and hopefully the window down option will still work!

yes it has the chipped key, like any other alarm with a chipped key you hide the key with the unit.Originally Posted by max_dreamer

Looking forward to one of these installed in a Max. When I have a few extra bucks, I'll tackle it and post a writeup/how-to if no one has beaten me to it. (been a while, but I used to install alarms/remote starts for a living..)
i think i will also install this, since it should be easier than a g35 or tl since they have a chip in there cars.

If install is less then 200 bucks I would do it. I could see for the first month or so this being wicked cool and fun to have but after I have shown it off to all my friends and messed around with it I could see it getting a little boring. Not saying I don't want this cause it is sweet but I'm not sure if I would pay 400+ dollars for it. We'll see though.

Started looking for other non-name-brand alarms, here's another with proximity sensor

I was thinking of a system utilizing the bluetooth from my phone.

Another, keyless start.
I've been reading the install manuals and they're no different than the ones I've done before. The biggest issue is the column lock. I don't have my FSM anymore, but someone can probably look up how to bypass the column lock.

Are 4th gens considered antiques? Cuz this one, StarDrive, was made years ago, and aimed at antiques that didn't have functioning door lock cylinders

Alarm looks neat, but the security side doesn't look so great. Does it have more than just a shock sensor to protect the car? No door/hood/trunk pin switches? No optional sensors to install?
Member
Haven't looked closely, but it likely interfaces with the factory door pin switches, so you could daisy off of that input and use any add on unit (shock, and other pin or mercury switches)

they make keyless bypasses nowadays so you can save your keys, which makes the whole process of having a rem start way easier. installation is easier too, no more ring around the key cylinder like the 556u's from back in the day.Originally Posted by Kevlo911

Are any new or better but still under $300 systems like this now? I cannot seem to find this ST800 anywhere? Better yet can you remove the Intelligent Key system from a 2007 or newer Maxima and install it in a 1999?

You can do anything you want if you have enough money. But you would have to install the transceivers, wire them some module that can receive the signal and decipher it, then wire that module to the BCM that would have to have additional inputs added to it and then be custom re-programmed to work.

Wow, that is a lot of work. I asked a similar question on here in another thread and I was told it is impossible. What about the first more feasible question?
