Help with changing O2 Sensor

OK so my CEL is on and when i pulled the codes i got: P0153 O2 Sensor Circuit Slow Response (Bank 2 Sensor 1).

So i got a new ngk o2 sensor from a local parts store, and now im trying to replace it but i cant find the location of this damn sensor. I know its the sensor on the radiator side, and it on the header, but i cant find it.

According to this diagram, the sensor is on the left side of the header itself.

But when i tried looking for it from underneath and on top of the engine, i cant see it, as the alternator is right next to it and in the way. Also, it seem like it could also be under the heat shield of the header. Anyone have exp replacing this sensor? How hard is it? Did you have to remove the alternator and/or heatshield to get to it? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Left side behind radiator, you need a o2 socket, wrench, and 3 wire o2 replacement, and you may have to force the shield a little, best I can figure. Follow the blue wire.

I am also having trouble finding this sensor. (sensor 1, bank 2). I also don't see any blue wire

I can see a sensor on the pipe below the manifold which I think is Bank 2 Sensor 2 according to http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...on-issues.html
unless of course gen 4 pictures are different.

I have a 1998 SE and have the P0153 code.

Do I find this sensor from the top of the engine or the bottom?
Do I need to remove the radiator or anything else?
Is the one I am seeing the only, meaning there is no sensor 2/bank 2 on my model?

Thanks!

Both sensors are accessible from underneath the car.

Sensor 1 is always before the cat; Sensor 2 is after the cat. Bank 1 is firewall side of engine; Bank 2 is radiator side. Just start at top of engine and run your hand down the exhaust manifold toward the cat - O2 sensor will be first thing with wires you come to. Gold or silver; 3-4" long; 3 or 4 wires coming out if it to a plug. Run car just long enough to heat up the exhaust manifold a little to ease removal of sensor. Good luck.

97 Max Bank2 sensor 1

97 Maxima....I agree with those having a difficult time finding the bank2 #1 O2 sensor. The exhaust manifold has got to be in the way! Has anyone figured this out yet? Does any have a Chilton or Haynes manual?

BTW the one mentioned in the previous post would be sensor 2 (according to the diagram provided)

I had to use an O2 sensor socket with an adjustable wrench because this sits just behind the cross member IIRCC. All I remember was that it was a solid piece of the frame and I had to get at it with a weird angle and could not use a regular socket wrench, thus the adjustable at the end of the loose O2 socket on the sensor.

This method worked for both bank 1 and bank 2 upstream sensors.
