I need your opinion
Ok, so I bought new monroe front struts to install, but after failing to complete the install my self, I'm tempted to buy the complete set up from ebay(complete strut and spring assembly). My question is has any one on this forum used any of them and are they any good? I see two listings for the complete front for under $200.

MAX, why do yo say the thread fail? I'm not asking an opinion of which strut works best as far as ride quality etc. I'm try to find out if anyone use any one of these below. I failed to swap out the struts because I couldn't get off the center nut that holds the spring to the strut, for some reason the strut thats on there has no where to clamp on to, to keep the center piston from turning when unscrewing this nut.

first you need to rent a spring compressor from autozone and compress the spring before even attempting to remove it from the shock. this is a very important saftey precaution.
then use a vice grip on the center piston to stop it from moving. it has to bite super hard to work. thats when u can loosen the nut. Done it myself.

also in relation to the center pistion, you should be able to get a socket to unlock it, that nut or ring (i can't remember) should be broken 1st before you jack up the car.
how me and my dad did this in order
- center piston ring/nut
- compress spings with car on ground
- secure & lift car
- brake 2 shock absorber bolts
- brake the 3 nuts on the top plate of the strut/shock
- remove the 3 nuts from the top plate
- remove the 2 long bolts from strut/shock
and its out.

+1 on this. Got mine from Advance Online with in-store pickup to eliminate shipping. Put all four corners on almost two years ago and they have been fine.

Just installed the complete strut and spring assembly I bought from rockauto this past weekend. My car now rides much better, although it looks like these new springs are a bit softer. I need to go get a front alignment, my tires are screeching when I go around corners, this is because I need an alignment right?
