will ects effect idle?
will ects effect idle?
my 96 auto is idling rough at stoplights and sometimes it "hops" when im drivin this has been happening a little bit for a few weeks kept havin it scanned no codes and it has been worse and happening more often lately so i had it scanned a few days ago and now its throwin a code for my engine coolant temp sensor or thermostat but i dont think the thermostat is bad cuz the cause its not over heating
it has also stalled at a light about a week ago and the week before it stalled as i was backin out of a parking space i dont know if it is related or not but then there was no codes

But good luck with that. If you're getting the code, chances are that you do need to change them out, even if not's overheating.

A "hop" sounds more like a misfire. The ECTs shouldn't cause a rough idle per say.
A rough idle would more likely be caused by a clogged or dirty fuel injector, weak coil/spark or spark plug. Stalling, hesitation or poor gas mileage would be more symptoms of the ECTs, MAF or o2 sensors.

cleanend the maf numerous times and recently changed it and last time i had coil problems it was throwing a code and i know what a misfire feels like and this "hop" feels at least 3x as bad as any miss i have ever felt and again even if it was a miss wouldnt it throw a code ? i was told it could be my torque converter is that a possibility? i have also cleaned my iacv and that didnt help any
well 2morrow i will get my ects and thermostat hopefully that will solve this issue
