I need your help. Honest opinion
Hey guys thanks for taking your time and help. So there is a guy who is selling me his 98 maxima. It's a 5 speed. The interior is beautiful. Black leather interior, bose premium, all the good stuff. It's black on black and on some nice German rims. I don't have pictures of it because I didn't take any yet. It's got 200k and as far as the drive train it seems fine and in good working condition.
Cons:
1.) It needs 4 new shocks and springs (shocks are blown and the guy decided to heat the springs to lower it) $120 for all 4 shocks at the junkyard.
2.) Minor exhaust leak.
3.) Needs new ignition coil as it is starting to go out according to the guy. It misfires at cylinder 5. He swapped the coils and realized the coil was bad. He says it only misfires and sets the check engine when you beat the car.
I checked the car out and tested it out and the car turns on and seems fine.
Now the good part... He is asking $600 OBO with the rims or without the rims he wants $100. Seems like a steal to me but i'm still a little sketched out. Honest opinions? He told me straight up he really doesn't need the car since he just bought himself a brand new audi and supercharged it after he hit the lottery. The tires need to be replaced though.
What do you guys think? Good deal? Should I not buy it. Should I go with it? What should I offer him? seems like i'll need to invest from $500-$600 maybe. Thanks guys
I forgot to mention this would be my second winter car. I already own a 2000 SE

I say got for it as long as it's not totally rusted out, there is a pink an it's not stolen haha. If you decide to part ways with it you could easily get all or double your money back by parting it out, hell you could prolly get all your money back just on parting out the interior, if I had a deal come my way like this one I wouldn't hesitate to jump on it!!

Take it for 100 bucks. Search craigslist for Rims with Tires. I got G35 rims with new tires for 400. Swap all coils yourself for ~300 bucks. Lower it with new struts and shocks, should run around 800 if you buy parts and get them installed. Cat Back exhaust for 200 installed if you look around.
After that you have a new car for 2000 bucks
Edit: just replace the bad coil, not all. Its 99 coils that go bad fast, not 98s

id get it if were you as long as everything was on the up and up as far as paperwork and the car mechanically. a couple hundred to fix is nothing if the car is in good condition. especially for between 100-600 dollars.
