emissions question

after being so excited about ordering my first mod (cat back) it all came to a stop. the previous owner welded the catalytic converter onand bacisally i would have to take out the stock y-pipe (is that what you call it?) because i would be alot more comfortable with a bolt on exhause system. i live in maryland and to sum up things if i got a new y-pipe would i be able to pass emissions with a high flow (as seen on custom maxima) or would i have to use a stock one?

maybe some people on here are getting a cel code using the high flow cat. it went away after installing an OEM cat. if you are doing the work yourself then it is not a big deal just buy a direct fit cat when you get a cel related to the cat. it will run around $130 to $180.
