Have you seen more or less 4th gens lately?

This thread could go south fast, but I was wondering if you think you are seeing more or less fourth gens in your area since you've been in the maxima game. I was out of the country for the summer and am convinced I'm just not seeing as many 4th gens as I used to on the road. We're coming up on 13 years for the youngest 4th gen. When do you think they will become as few and far between as the 3rd gen?

I see plenty of them daily. Normally 4-5 4th gens. Only problem is 90% of the time they are hammered, smashed, rusted, unwashed, smoking. I guess they are all still moving, and that's all that matters.

It still upsets me to see all these 4th gens in the condition they are in. It's like going to the animal shelter and seeing all the cute puppies. You want to adopt them all, love and take care of them all, but it's just not possible. At least mine is well taken care of.

Precisely. Rarely do I see a "nice" fourth gen.

once i got mine im not sure if i noticed them bc i was driving one or what but i usually see 8-10 4th gens a day 3 live within 2 blocks of me. there is only one here that is modded and its super nice, but the guy is a master of douchebaggery so i avoid him. i think mine is either the fastest or at least one of the fastest in this area though...( dont worry i have a flame suit in the garage)

I see a good number of them here in NYC. Of course the condition is usually shot.

There's one modded right down the block from me.

As someone else said here, I love the look the 4th gen gets when I drive compared to others they see on the road (or their own). lol

If you judge from the post counts on this forum, the 4th gen is still the most popular Maxima.

I recall in 2000 my colleague who recently bought an Oldsmobile Aurora V8 was talking s%^it about Maximas. I offered to race him in my 98 5-speed with Y-pipe and CAI. From the toll booth I always left him. It was only at 120+ that he caught and passed me. After that encounter he confessed to me he had never encountered a maxima a fast as mine

Nissan marketed the maxima for everybody and they succeeded. Those who appreciate the VQ, like the people here on the org, are the precious few who took their maxima to the next level.

I'm starting to notice more and more 4th gens too. But like before, they are mostly all stock and/or dirty and rusted.

I rarely see a modded 4th gen, there is only one or two that I've seen since I've owned my 97.

I'm the only modded 4th gen in my city, but I see at least 8 or 9 a day.

I see at least 1 a day. They are all in varying states of repair. It's amazing that some are in such bad shape. If it wasn't for the black bumper and ugly wheels on mine, it would be a whole lot better. I plan on getting her more up to par with a little cash after I graduate since I most likely won't have enough $ to spend on monthly car payments yet. some of these other Maxi's I'm seeing need a whole lot more than a few hundred bucks. makes me want to pull them out the car but, who am I to judge?

Before I got mine I thought it was all cool and no one else had one (real hipster attitude I know) then like a year later I'm starting to see a bunch of em, all oldies cars for the most part, I've seen one pretty decent sleeper and one with a bunch of exterior but nothing under the hood. So I figure I'll go for the V.I.P. look!

I'm here in Tuscaloosa, AL, and I see them EVERYWHERE. I bought Anna Mae back in June (tornado ate my '05 Cavalier in April on my bday), and since then I see at least 5-7 a day.

I live in a suburb of Vancouver, British Columbia and see a number of them. In fact, I saw one for sale on Craiglist locally yesterday. 95SE, 5-speed, 108,000 kilometres (67,000 miles). The guy was supposedly selling it for his grandfather. Not sure if I believe that one. One drawback is that it had a cloth interior.

I suspect the gear oil was starting to leak as a result of the typical differential carrier bearing problem, which typically surfaces at about 60k.

I drove mine like that for 3 years and just kept adding gear oil. Finally had the bearings and seals replaced a little over 2 years ago and 10k miles ago, along with the clutch assembly, which still had about 50% left.

Used cars are more expensive here. Asking prices Cdn$3,500. Very clean car.

From Long Island NY and currently live in florida (sigh)....In NY, I noticed them pretty much EVERYWHERE! Seriously, at least 10-15 a day, they are going to be around for a LONG TIME..

In South FLorida: Well, I still see lots, but here's the kicker. Down here, most are beat to ****E! People don't take care of them down here as much as up there. I drive a 99 SE-L fully loaded and baby the shiznit out of that thing, wax 3-4 times a year, detailed cleanings whenever possible, etc etc. All I need to do is get my steering wheel restored and i'll have a practically new car. LOVE IT, not getting rid of it anytime soon
