a/t shift button hard to push in.

When in park the the button that you press in on the shifter to move into drive is real hard to push. I have to fight it to push it in. once out of park it pushes in with no problem. Any ideas what causes it?

pressure on the pin in the transmission i believe, use the e-brake to fix that. when parking put it in neutral then apply e-brake then put it in park. see if that helps

^^ I agree
If that's not the issue you may have a sticking cable or TR switch

ill tell you right now what any mechanic's gonna say, " shift selenoid " its a little box thats a dealer part only that engages the trans from the shifter. the dealer does a service ( some ) for 45.00 that cleans this and makes the button re-engage. most of the time this works, i had an idiot in a mom and pop shop years ago that sprayed the crap out of it and made it worse and had to put in new. call and ask local dealer about it.

i think your mistaken with the trans range switch (TR switch) the solenoids are located on the valve body inside the trans away from the elements. our autos have 5. the TR switch is directly connected to the shift linkage. it is located directly behind the radiator on the driver side. its held in by 2 nuts. have a friend sit in the car and move the lever from park to drive on level ground with the parking brake applied and the engine off. if it sticks you have found the problem. if not, then the parking pall inside the transmission is getting loaded with the vehicle weight. setting the parking brake in this situation will resolve this issue as previously stated.

i hope this helps

this is mis-information dude. ignore. im telling you there's a box inside the car that freezes up over the years, or gets wet or dries out and does'nt allow the shifter to come out of park. trust me, call the dealer and ask.

Ok dude chill
I've never personalty seen a shift interlock on a maxima seize i dont even know if we have one the connection between you right thumb and the trans is strictly mechanical theres no solenoid that i know of but there are solenoids in the trans ive swapped my trans twice and TR switches seize all the time I'm not telling you your wrong just simply stating my experience
i have a built 5th gen trans and all the electrical connections are different between the 2 gens
