Coilover selection advice needed

This is for my 97 SE and will be for daily driving only. The car currently has lowering springs but I want to upgrade to coilovers for a better ride. I'd like ride height adjustment and a nice comfy ride.

Of the following can you please tell me what your experiences are with them and why I might want to go with one over the other: Tein Basic, D2 RS, KSport GT Pro and Kontrol Pro, Megan Racing Street, XYZ SS. Any and all help would be appreciated.

Since you want comfort, go with the Tein Basics. It doesn't get comfier than that.

I would personally stay away from ksports....they suck. Have had good exerience with BCs in many maximas and subarus. Have megans on my subbie now while they are decent for the price, they do squeek. I would look into BCs or teins.

I've heard very good things about XYZ coilovers, but they haven't "caught on" here on this forum yet.

A friend of mine had Tien basic's on his Integra. Two of them blew out in less than a year, and he put his stock suspension back on.

He was slammed wasn't he? When slamming on basics, you lose a ton of suspension travel and that can cause premature failure.

It was low, but I don't think he had it slammed down all the way. And it wasn't during the winter. Florida winters don't get that cold here compared to up north.

I have the B&G lowering springs on it now and am good with a 1.5-1.6 inch rear drop and a front to match.

BCs, one of the best, unless you have massive funds, try and find some JICs

not trying to thread jack here so please dont get mad.
When comparing all these brands, excluding JIC and maybe Tein, how much different are their internals? Many have the '30 or 36 levels of damping' and adjustable camber plates..doesn't this seem kinda suspicious like underneath all the branding they are pretty much the same? I'm not trying to talk **** on anybody's co, (I had ksports back in 05 and they blew lol)...well anyone know about the internals? Is BC that much different from Ksport besides the BC having 6 less adjustment levels/spring rates?

I went with BC's, great ride, you want comfort maybe go with Teins, but my girl don't complain on the ride, set 10 clicks away from the stiffest.....

BC's are 1000 i'm pretty sure. I plan on getting a set for the spring. I read your thread too BTW. sucks that you're back under the circumstances that you are but...welcome back to the community.

I was going to do an unboxing and step by step post but decided to just throw them on the car. The B&G lowering springs I took off are only a few months old. The KYB shocks are older but work. Selling the above mentioned

Good choice. Make sure you get a alignment after the install. Some shops even check ride height all around to make sure it's even. You can do it yourself just count down how many threads

Thanks guys, alignment is good to go for now. Going to drive on it a couple of days and then fine tune the ride height. The rear is where I want it, just going to drop the front about a half an inch.
