What would you do in this situation?
I've been riding around with 5% tint in rear, and 15% in fronts that I got done in Newark...
Over the past year, I got 4 tickets, totaling 216 dollars, plus the 180 to get them done... It kinda sucks having to drive around having your hand on the window switch looking out for cops,
Anyway I have lifetime warranty and maybe can get the tint back on charge free ( say it fell off haha)
What's your opinion?? Stay tint, or tintless

Sucks to live in Jersey and you my friend have bad luck lol.
I doubt the place you got your windows tinted will retint your windows if you say it fell off
Just take it off and be safe and or just do a lighter shade. I have 25% around and getting my windsheild done in 50% so well see how that goes. But i live in Philly also lol

jus put 35% up front and 20% on the rear window.
35% will not give u the same privacy that 5% will.
I have had 20% and its ok and dark. I like 35% the best.

NJ State law = No tint up front, tint them and your asking for trouble.
Pretty simple, really.
Taking tint off is actually pretty easy. The adhesive is water based and dissolves with nothing more then Windex.
Start with a razor blade, score the tint and pull it off from there. Use the razor to scratch or lift up sections that rip apart. Once you have all the film off, the left over residue on the window comes off with Windex. Spray it on and let it soak for a minute, then use the razor as a shovel, it comes right off. Repeat this until the window is clean. Rinse with lots of Windex and wipe it clean with a paper towel. Don't forget to get down under the molding as the tint goes slightly beyond the bottom of the window.

^^^ this.
But what NJ is leaving out is that this works ok for the rear side windows.
On the rear window itself, this will take lots of time and work. I done it before...thats why I jus use the removable. 5 min and all the tint is off with NO adhesive residue. And it can be reapplied. Adhesive stlye cannot be reapplied.

I'd just do the legal limit unless you had some really good friends in some good places...
I plan to get my windows tinted but doing 35% in the front, and 25% in the rears/back. Well above the limit in my area but don't need the cops creepin up on me

my tints are 5% all around i love it 35% on the sunroof
i dont get pulled over for them here in illinois its 35% for the legal tints i had to sign a waver stating i knew they were illegal
honestly dude just take em off its not worth the time, hassle or money
ive been pulled over a few times for "other reasons" but i always roll all my windows down and leave the front up a touch so the officer knows nothing illegal is in my car and the front is illegal they seem to let me go because i realize there job can be tough and its nice to know im not gonna kill them
always pull off the road and be real respectful cops will be more inclined to let you go
unless there ****s

I live in Jersey too. Had 35% all around on my old car and never got ticketed for it. Sold it before i had to get the inspection done though. If you're having bad luck, I would say just take them off 'cause it's really not worth it.

If tint is illegal on your front windows, then you'll be fighting a losing battle. I live in IL, and when I came off of active duty from TX, I had every cop w/ a security complex pulling me over. Always rolled my windows down when they pulled me over, was respectful, hands on my steering wheel, and you name it. I got a ticket every single time. Every single time the stop was entirely for the tint, even when I had the windows half way down! I finally had one of the execs at my job call one of his buddies who was the chief to make the last ticket go away if I promised to take it off. I've only been pulled over 1 time since, but I have a badge now too. LOL!!

If you're not allowed to have any kind of tint on your front windows, then remove it, especially since it's 15%. You might be able to get away with a light tint, such as 50%, or something lighter, if it's available, if you still want u.v. protection from a film.
Tint here in Florida is 28% front, 15% rear and back, with somewhere around 2-3% margin of error allowed. I've had friends that run 5% all around for years and never got a ticket, so I figured I'd be good to to with having 15% all around installed on my Maxima. I got pulled over by a rookie cop one night just cruising to my g/f's place because I had a clear tag (license plate) cover on my car, and I didn't know they weren't allowed. To make a long story short, he gave my car a walkaround checkover looking for other "illegal" stuff, but all my lights, side markers, etc. were legit. He did notice the tint (it's night time btw) so he made me partially roll up my front windows to scan them (had both fronts all the way down when I was pulled over) my front 15% scanned 12%, due to the fact that glass itself will block a few % worth of light, so I got a ticket for it. It's a non-moving violation, so I didn't get any points, but I did get a $100 fine. Apparently, it's $100 per window, but he only wrote me up for one (what a nice guy!) After a few months, I decided to change my fronts to 30% since the law is 28% (weird). The switchover to 30% isn't too bad, since my car has black interior and it makes it look darker than it actually is.

I think my front legal is like 35, I have 5 over 5 on the back windows and 20 on the front with a 8 inch strip of 5 on the windshield. Never been pulled over, but I always see them before they see me. Lol back in high school I had an old jetta that I spraypainted the back windows black. lol
My brother has 5 over 5 on his front doors of his evo. I think thats way to dark at night for the front personally. but whatev

the problem with tint is if you wanna look clean your font and back windows have to match. not the windshield but the door glass.
im in jersey and im thinkin about doin 50% on my door glass, because i really hate the look of tinted rear door glass and no tint on the front. and technically in this state youre not allowed to have anything up front. but 50% looks factory and you can still see the person inside if the sun is shinin nicely.
35% up front... i dunno. maybe once i move out of nj. the cops in my town will pull you over for anything.
remember to keep it clean.

Here's a pic I found of a 911 with 50% on a sunny day. It barely looks like it's on there. And if you have the rears darker, such as 15% or 5%, the fronts will probably look factory with the optical illusion that the dark rear tint gives.

That situation was about 10 yrs. ago when tint on the fronts in IL was illegal. The law has changed since then, and you're right it was the car I was driving. I was in my Mustang and the cop (Aurora) that pulled me over had one. He told me that since he couldn't have tint on his windows, then I couldn't. Guess he got really ticked when I told him that if I wanted to do something to him I had more training than he did, and I wouldn't do it sitting in my car.
