Weird Gas Problem
Weird Gas Problem
When the car gets down a little under a half a tank usually with around 7 gallons left in the tank, the car will stutter and hesitate as if its not getting fuel. It basically acts like the tank is empty. But as long as i keep it above that 7 gallon mark it runs perfectly fine, minus the fact that im getting not so good gas milage but i think thats a cat and o2 issue. I have recently changed the fuel filter and the injectors, and like i said as long as there is more than 7 gallons in the tank its perfect. Pulls hard, no hesitation or stuttering, misfires, etc. I was thinking that maybe it has to do with the arm that measure the fuel but that doesnt seem to be it because using logic, if i fill it at exactly half a tank its 9 gallons to fill. With that being said what is the problem???
You have to take the fuel gauge sender unit out of the gas tank and look inside. The fuel pump is to the left (driver's side) of the center. The fuel pump is submerged, so the less gas you have in the tank, the easier it will be to see.
Normal fuel system maintenance precautions apply - relieve pressure before disconnecting lines, no smoking, no sparking devices. You may need a new o-ring gasket for the sending unit when you re-install it.

My dad has a 95 and he had that problem, im not sure if it the same as yours but, i forgot what its called, the black box thing thats closest to the filter on the intake was cracked. Check if its cracked, it could be the problem
